I had some amazing games last night. I was 4 points off Chelsea and 1 off Man Yoo with a game in hand and I played both at Anfield. First up was Chelsea, I went two down after about 17 minutes and so I brought RvN on for Yossi after roughly 20 minutes and went to all-out attack. Just before half-time Mascherano gets sents off. So now I was 1 man and two goals down. I told the team "We must get a result here. No excuses!" which fired them up a treat as I got drew level with about 20 minutes to go. Not much happened until the 84th minute when Aqua Man picked out Torres with a 40 yard ball which he then proceeded to smash into the bottom corner. I jumped for joy. The title-race was back on.
A couple of weeks later it was Man UTD's turn to go two up at half-time and end up losing 3-2, this time with Ruuuuuud getting the winner in the 87th minute. I used the same team-talk and switched to the same tactics and as if by magic, the team responded, sweeping them away like nobodies business. Unfortunately 5 consecutive draws followed, 4 of them ending 0-0. The other was another 10 men, 2 down thriller with Everton. I blame the injury to Torres. He's often the difference between a win and a draw. So I'd blown my chances of the title, but the CL was still up for grabs.
It was Liverpool vs Milan at Anfield. Torres gave me an early lead, only for them to equalize through Oneywu with 10 minutes to spare. It ended 1-1, but I was certain I would score a goal or two at the San Siro. As long as I had Torres fit that is. Well he was fit, and there was plenty of goals, unfortunately for me, it was Milan who was scoring them. They were 2-0 at half-time, but I still had my flawless team-talk and switch to an attacking 4-4-2 to hit them with. A minute after the restart, Pato chips Reina from 25 yards. I raged and went to even more attacking, direct formation. It worked, it was soon 3-2 thanks to the magnificent Spanish bastard yet again and in the final 4 minutes he stuck again completing his hat-trick and completing another awesome turn around.
Juve awaited in the final, but not before I played Stoke at Anfield. With both eyes on the final I rested the lot, playing mostly kids and misfits and I was raped hard and lost 6-1. I put out a bad side, but it wasn't THAT bad. I almost reloaded in embarrassment, but decided against it. The CL final was another glorious affair with yet another flawless display by a certain Spanish God. He scored another hat-trick, with the third winning the game in the 85th minute. It ended 3-2 and it saved my season, having been knocked out the cups fairly early and throwing away the title, it was a much needed win.
I'm in pre-season and my main signings include Gourcuff for 16 million and N'Gog and Michael Johnson for 1.2 who will provide great cover across midfield. I had a 16 million offer for Ribery accepted, but he wanted 140k a week the daft mentalist. I've turned my attentions to Robinho or Silva for the left, but I doubt I'll get either for under 20 million, though Riera had a great end to the season and Van Der Vaart is on the market yet again. Kuyt and Donavon are off for a combined fee of around 14 million. I want to keep everyone else, bar maybe Yossi, who I'd sell for 4 million or so, though Agger and Reina are seeking new challenges, the latter of which is irreplaceable. Though I wouldn't reject 40 million for either. I could really do with a new defender to replace Carragher as a matter of factly, so I'll see what happens.
