Isn't it time we make one of these for the latest installment as well?
Everyone knows how these kinds of threads work, let's share our BAL stories with one another.
Anyway, I started my 2011 BAL experience by creating a striker, because judging from the DEMO and various videos, the attacking game seems much more about taking good runs behind the defensive line now, which I like.
No scout matches anymore people! Instead, you instantly sign for ONE team in each of the SIX possible leagues, on a 2 year contract with a fixed salary at 50 000 Euro's. I chose to sign for Valenciennes, the french team available because I chose to be a french striker. Woo me!
First match was a training match - and you have these training matches every now and then in-between your actual matches (which makes sense in the off-season, but not in the middle of an actual season) and I did fairly well, in my opinion. It's all about getting used to the game right now (the captain even told me after the game "Don't worry about mistakes and such now, we're still in the getting-to-know-you stage" - nice little after-game addition there).
There's a new feature in where the manager rates you and your competitors together, and whoever has the highest rating, is the one who gets to start (as far as I've noticed) unless you're tired at which you might even be RESTED (cool huh?).
Your agent - yes, you have one and it's that you spend your money on - tells you of certain important things such as interest, if you're getting rested or benched and stat gains.
Right now, I have played a little more than a quarter of the season and we're doing fairly well. A few numbers;
Beat Bordeaux in the very first game - 2-1
Lost to Lyon a couple of games after - 1-2
Beat Nice and scored four goals - 4-0
We're currently in tenth, which I guess is acceptable.
All in all, I'm liking this years BAL. Aside from the game being much better than last year, BAL has a ton of new nice features. Looking forward to get better eventually - because the stats increase really slowly, as opposed to superfast in 2010.
