Penalties

Thread to rant about the worst penalty system ever made. Needs to be fixed in the next version ASAP. I looked at FIFA's penalty system and they nailed it on the dot. They have three meters: pressure, height and power. And you can actually see where you are aiming in training, not to mention see where your shooting (not like the crappy camera angle with PES).

Anyone manage to score consistently on penalties at top player? Also, what's with the camera angle, penalties should be 1-1!!

Totally agree the new penalty camera/system is useless.

I detest the penalties, I can only score about 2 out of every 10 if im lucky. The keeper never moves as everyone knows ATLEAST 3/4 of the penalties go down the middle as if you put it down a side it doesn't go anyway. Online I can't mind the last time I seen a penalty scored :O i miss all mine and save them all too lol

Agreed, the penalty system is hopeless. Its completely unintuitive. I always liked the FIFA penalty system. Failing that Konami should just bring back the old system, I don't think people would be too bothered about bringing that back if it means getting rid of this one. The worst thing about PES 2011 for me.

I didn't buy PES last year. Last one I bought was 2009. Can someone please explain how to take them? I've had 10 or so for me and missed every single one of them.

In terms of saving, I always guess the direction the kicker will kick, but my goalie stands still.

Indeed a horrible penalty system. I really don't see why konami have decided to keep it for 2011 other then the fact that they will use this 'negative energy' and make the penaltys their next gimmick for 2012. So people can get sucked in again and again and again. "But but, THIS TIME THE PENALTIES ARE FIXED!" and then in 2013 it'll be " NOW YOUR TEAMATES WILL MAKE MORE RUNS FOR GOALS!" , im sure they have some chart up in the konami offices that has a list of gimmicks they are using for each year to guarantee we keep buying and buying.

Obviously they are in it for the money. I doubt they would make the perfect game, otherwise they wouldn't know what to add in the following years and we would just need good OF to update the rosters and teams.

Though the penalty system is a crucial part of the game. I haven't managed to score one. It is so counterintuitive (tap the button and the ball still flies over the bar) and the instructions on the demo are horrible. To be honest, I have only seen videos on FIFA's penalty system, but it seems much easier and more in depth than PES.

Back to the main question: anyone know how to take penalties? I've tried everything (and using a keyboard certainly doesn't help :()

EDIT: I just tried out a 3 CMF formation and noticed a lot more runs from my midfielders. Test it out and let me know if it works for you as well or it was a fluke.

r u guys serious? or is this a joke? I don't think I've missed one yet!! ever since PES 2010, i thought this system was clever...even u look at the opponents controller u can't tell how hard they pushed the button....
if u have any kind of hand-eye coordination and good timing, this should be a piece of cake...the old system was crap..this is what freedom is all about!!
LOL at FIFA with gauges and all that garbage...that's for kids who like arcade games

I disagree, to an extent. I think the idea of this freedom in penalties is great, but Konami have executed it terribly. The system is simply too sensitive and it just isn't user-friendly. They definitely need to refine the system, especially the camera angle which really doesn't help anyone and it reflects the actual direction you want to kick it in poorly.

There's a tutorial for the penalty system on the Winning Eleven Blog, I'll try and get a link. It'll probably help you a little, but it's generally the system that's poor and not the player, otherwise it wouldn't be such a widespread problem.

I agree with you, I like this system and I think that those who do not like just do not understand how it works.

Thanks for the link, the tutorial is a big help. Perhaps the problem is the system was not very well explained in the game or in the manual. I still don't like it, but maybe now I have a chance

Thanks Hunter for the link. I'll start practicing it in the demo and see what comes out of it.

To all the other guys that were saying it was easy, I was asking how to take them. Like I said before, I didn't buy PES 2010 I am not familiar with the penalty system. Any tips?
