i think thats the difference here between the both, FIFA you can almost pick up first time and be good, theres no learning curve with it, all of a sudden your a world class footballer against crap AI. PES you need to master yes it may have some flaws but its when you learn the skills you feel achievement.

...and you still cant be that feeling of your first goal , FIFA has no feeling sorry!

To be honest that's not the problem. Apart from the last 3 years or so I always bought PES and I was always brilliant at it (dont mean to brag - but I was usually ranked top 500 in the world). PES 2011 is the first I'd properly played in 3 years and my first friendly I put it on Top Player and won 3-1, so it's not getting used to a harder game I'm struggling with, it's just a very poor game in my honest evaluation.

Nobody agree that the passing is horrendous & waaaaay too fast?

Hahaha, I so agree. I was playing vs my bro and he scored, I was pissed. Then the referree calls it back... offside! That was brilliant! Hahaha. I never had that feeling with FIFA 2010. Never. Ever.

IMO PES is back, not 100% but it's back.

And yea, give it some time like others have said. And if you don't like it, I doubt you will like FIFA. You should pass this year and play your last football-game.

You think shooting is good? I found it horrible, like its totaly random and i have no control over it all, and its way to slow, i didnt find passing to powerfull at all. (From demo)

Pes is not evolving into fifa. It implemented some features from fifa, but that's because it needed to, but in the end, they're still different.
And I cannot agree that ffia wins HANDS DOWN. No way. It may win in the end, (because fifa feels more complete) but not hands down.
The AI and everything that surrounds the AI in fifa 11 is totally horrific and stupid.
And the passing sucks. It AI CONTROLLED. EVEN ON MANUAL. The AI decides if you're gonna miss that pass no matter how accurate you press the stick.
Fifa 11 is a good game, but has game breaking moments.
It's like metallic paint covering cracks, but I can still see the cracks. And yes, the AI is worse than Fifa 10.

this has to happen. it would be stupid for it not to even on manual otherwise people good with manual could be accrington stanley and pass the ball perfectley around chelsea because the players good with manual passing/shooting. not realistic. as for the AI in be a pro it does suck ass, but on legendary when you contrtol the whole team i have no major complaints. passing doesnt suck, its simple, if you are facing a player and have a good body position you are more likely to make the pass, its just people are use to PES or FIFA 09/10 where you can be faceing the wrong direction, the player with no line of sight to the player he is going to pass to but magically he knows where he is and makes the pass, cant happen on fifa 11.

I think the passing is the best part of the game this year. But I also think the AI is better at closing down, more backward passes are needed this year to keep possession.

To be honest I don't see where you're comming from about the game, I think we have two fundamentally different views about it.

Nothing wrong with that though.

I can understand your feeling, I thought PES2008 was the worse football game I ever played. That was the first year I had no football game. :realmad:

I still think maybe you should hyave a go at forgetting what you have learned before in PES, and start again. Like it or not, PES will be similar to this for a few years I think. I'm not saying you're a bad player, clearly not, but this isn't an old PES, its virtually a new game.

I'm assuming at some point in this thread I'll get called a FIFA fanboy or something along those lines.

But don't get me wrong, FIFA has a lot of faults of it's own - I'd be the first to admit that, but as far as Pro Evo's, I mean it's really really stupid things they have to fix. Nobody who has played the game can honestly say the passing is realistic? You tap the pass button and the ball just pings to your player.

Not to mention the fact Konami didn't do the summer transfers, what is that all about? I know you can download option files & what not...but it's October, transfer window finished the end of August - why can't they do it for release date?

At my ASDA where I bought the game there was only about 30 people queueing for it, whereas last week with FIFA there was nearer 400...I think that just about sums PES up for now

I think to judge a game on how many people queue for it is about as hasty a decision as writing it off after a few hours, after all, we cannot take what happens at your local Asda as empirical evidence now can we? it could simply be the case that more PES fans decided to pre order for example in that particular area. Probably best to give it a few weeks in any case before writing it off completely, I do agree however that FIFA is not a bad game, PES however is more to my individual taste, as is the case for most people on this PES site!!! feedback is one thing, but to write it of as early as the release date could perhaps be a a touch hasty, happy gaming in any case dude!

I think I'd rather swim in the pool at the Commonwealth Games than play PES2010 again

The king is defenately back.

Well let this guy have it's opinion. It's not mine thats for sure!

Anyone who takes just such a short time to play the game will have to be really convinced by a few games!! that's impossible! But still it's an opinion and i would never return a game that quick!

every Pes has it flaws and faults, tweaks, glitches etc. But imo it has so much to offer and plenty good things in there to keep me going for another year!

the argument about rosters not up to date is something you cannot be surprised by after playing Pes every year! Pes is depending on updates and option files, always has been!

THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN?:shocking:
Ofourse not. That's the worst case of STUPID SCRIPTED AI.
I mean, yes it needs to happen AT TIMES like you said, but not like in fifa 11 where it happens MOST OF THE TIME.
In fifa 11 every pass will have a predestined path BEFORE YOU EVEN PASS IT. The AI gets involved with your team WAY TOO MUCH.
Fifa 10 was better at this aspect, but fifa 11 is just over the top in terms of AI. And that body position stuff does not exist in fifa 11 or not as much as people are saying. It does matter a bit, but not as much as I'd like it to be because the AI gets involved way too much as I said.
The AI sometimes is messing with my player selection too.
I want to pass a through ball to the 2nd player, and SUDDENLY, MY FIRST PLAYERS GETS SELECTED AUTOMATICALLY, AND BY THE TIME I TRY TO SELECT THE 2ND PLAYER AGAIN, THE SUPER AI DEFENDERS RUN BACK AND RUINS MY CHANCE. This DID NOT HAPPEN WITH FIFA 10. And yes, I tries the stick selection but it's still slow to select my 2nd player and won't be on time because of the defenders. I'm sad about the AI. Because if it was better, then it would be one of the best football games ever. But the AI is just way too much..

This year the both games have errors, as always but PES has improved immensly. I'd say PES has the advatage this year because of the freedom of passing whereas when playing FIFA I feel claustraphobic and long passes are useless. Also PES graphics absolutely destroy FIFA's. FIFA STILL looks like a PS2 game! Yes, the animations are great, and it feels more complete but PES has the passing + graphics this year.

FIFA you can pick up and enjoy immediately, however gets boring pretty quick (in my opinion)

PES is unenjoyable at first and takes time to get used to, but then keeps me interested for longer.

Once my copy turns up i don't see myself playing fifa much

i just think he is used to the slow boring and every player has the same passing speed that we find in FIFA.
If you watch most leagues nowadays i think PES has the speed about right, still there's an option to slow things down if you aren't used to it.

@ Gun_runner: I would suggest sticking with it for at least another couple of weeks, there is nothing wrong with owning both games-sure, you'll probably play FIFA more, but one day you'll give PES another shot, and everything will just 'click' and you'll see that it's not a bad game at all!

P.S. i know what you mean about online players ALWAYS choosing Real Madrid or Barcelona, you get that with PES too, so bloody unoriginal, i have a preset message that says 'Cant you play as anyone else, you knob?' there really should be some sort of handicap points system that rewards players if they play with a 'lesser' team!

After queueing for about 25 minutes and buying PES for £33 in Asda (rip off) I had high hopes because the demo seemed pretty decent compared to previous Pro Evo's.

Anyway, after about an hour of playing it I've decided the game is utter crap & it'll be getting returned in the morning.

Reasons:
- if you tap x to pass, the ball flies towards your player at 100mph (fake)
- lack of advantage rule
- considering the apparent '360 movement' it still feels like you can only go straight/diagonal
- players' first touches are absolutely terrible

I could probably list more but it's annoyed me so much at the moment it's unreal!

The only positives I can take out of it are that the shooting is pretty good as is the crossing from freekicks.

Apart from that FIFA wins again, hands down!

Dude, seriously what is wrong with you?

- Ball flyin at 100k? try -1 instead of ARCADE +2 you use and see how it works wonders !
- No advantage rule? It is there FOR SURE. Just not as frequently given as we might have liked.
- 360 control? that might be true.It does not feel 360 when you have the ball
- Player's first touches are absolutely realistic. How many times in real life have you seen great players cock up their first touches and make you go "F***, He should have scored there !" ? I have seen A LOT.

Anyways not everyone will think alike about the game.
Cheers and have a good time with FIFA.;)
