i noticed it disappear in pes2015 when i used a team like manchester city. for that matter cpu defending disappeared entirely when using City. CPU defenders would not even try to tackle on the way to goal. Sort of reverse scripting. But I also saw unstoppable goals from the cpu opponent all the time using a team like Palace or Stoke. this was pes2015 but i wouldnt' doubt it carried over here.

Hi Ironcity

Have you started playing PES 2016 yet, if not, what in PES 2016 makes you stop play this new game? Is there anything in particular that enrage and irritate you in PES 2016?

Yeah, maybe its the lesser teams that makes things seem like we've less control. I've never used them, so yeah, you can see why my experience is different then. Reverse scripting as you say I didn't feel, it still felt a challenge to score for me on Superstar. QPR were the team that stands out for unstoppable goals. I definitely had one or 2 from them. Superstar last year was very difficult to defend agains. Not so much this year as they have definitely toned down the affects of the emotions.

At first i thought maybe scripting played a part but i simply couldn't defend properly and now i defend far far better than i did when the game first came out. Nine times out of Ten if i lose a goal it will be me doing something stupid and the AI punishes me for it as it should be i think. Obsessing about scripting is affecting people's ability to play the game i feel.

Scripting does play a part. But I agree, I think its being read into too much as well. It's no coincidence that some of the scripting you noticed went away when you got better. I was dreadful at defending at the beginning last year on Superstar. The AI just went nuts coupled with my bad defending. I conceded quite a lot of goals. I stopped playing Superstar very early on and just played Top player. I got a lot better with my positioning and timing my tackles and went back up to Superstar at the end. I wasn't conceding half as much, although it was still very difficult at times. It wasn't helped by the fact that you have a delay in tackling a crazy AI by having to press the tackle button twice, which thankfully is more responsive this year.

EDIT: Actually, I've just remembered from playing the AI on Superstar initially last year when the game got released. When they got ahead they became more difficult again, as I think the emotions kicked in on my team and they became more sluggish because they're getting their ass kicked. Compounding the fact I was bad at defending anyway. I didn't notice at the time because my defending was in fact shit anyway!

Stopped reading at this point.

Not once did I verbally abuse you so in future please keep your childish opinions to yourself. Thanks.

You've always ignored most of what I say and substitute whatever you want to think. If you think I'm childish and stopped reading my post then great, as it looks like I can avoid your usual essays this time!

Admit it, it's pretty good this year, isn't it? *Heads for them hills*

I finished in 7th place with Inter Milan, and got sacked (fired) for my troubles, I bought some pretty good non-celebrity players. I got to the semi-final stage in the Italian domestic cup. I only play Career Mode really. I'm giving it a break for a couple of weeks as I finally get into the NBA 2K16 Career Mode. I'm a one game at a time (sweet Jesus) type of player.

I will definitely get PES again IF they fix the goalkeeping and refereeing problems. I'm not holding my breath though, but I'll be interested to read what fellow disgruntled (with PES) think of the patch in 16 days' time...

i just upgraded to a ps4 this year so i am really enjoying fifa at the moment. I only play career mode, and clubs as well. don't enjoy playing online seasons because I want to play a league not one-off games or choosing Norwich only to have to be forced to play the Seattle Sounders. I thought FIFA15 for PS3 was great, then soon later hated it with passion, so hoping FIFA16 holds in there for me until January.

I only played the FIFA demo (for the PC) but it felt a little wooden. Anyone know what the full game is like? Might give it a go.

I've 'retired' from online play, too many cheating/cheesing kids- I can't be bothered with the stress it caused me when people would disconnect! I might have a Career in the MLS for a change this year. Since getting fired by Inter, I took the managerial position at Newcastle United. Arsenal and PSG didn't require my services- so **** 'em! :D

I'm looking forward to my next season...

I hope you have fun with your game, that's what it's all about!

I wasn't massively impressed with the demo- it's never easy to assess a sport game with just the demo.

I love the full game, it plays like a simulation at long last(!), the CPU AI is very impressive, and guess what... the goalkeepers actually save shots (they're really good)... oh yeah, the referees have brought their whistles, too! :)

If you like slower, patient build-up play, you'll like it. People tend to forget that you can adjust the 'sliders' as well as the difficulty level. I'm finding 'Professional'/fully-manual to be perfect for how I play. Unlike last year, I haven't had to change my slider settings!

oh don't get me wrong my friend i was loving fifa 15 on the ps4 up until i got pes , career mode on fifa 15 with the correct slider's 10 min half's full manual is unbelievable and i imagine fifa 16 is great too and it's slower so that would mean no slider's ?but i hate adjusting the sliders in fifa but with pes the gameplay combined with full manual on the hardest setting is just it the hardest you can get on the game , whereas adjusting slider's to play in fifa feels like you have to handicap the game and it's not it's full difficulty although it's more realistic than on default.

I agree about the sliders, I had to handicap the CPU last year because it was just ridiculously difficult to get any time in the box to get a shot on goal properly! That's why I'm glad that I haven't had to change the slider settings this year, I can't stand it when a game is too easy, it's almost pointless playing after a while.

Don't forget though, you could handicap yourself in FIFA with the sliders, that's the beauty of sliders, you can fine-tune/customise the game to suit the type of challenge/football that you like.

Thing is I wouldn't mind giving FIFA a go but then I took a look at the reviews and 6.7 average score from readers isn't good.

Check out this review and let me know whether it has truth in it...

http://www.gamespot.com/fifa-16/user-reviews/2200-12664215/

Because if it does then it has the exact same problems that I dislike in PES - note my comment at the bottom. But hey, I'm willing to take on board what you guys have to say too but again I must stress that this review is kind of typical of what most people are saying which has me a little worried.

the goalkeepers seemed to have been patched from that article. they no longer come out wildly.

without playing pes yet, i would still be willing to bet the AI mentality is better than FIFA. I get a little frustrated at FIFA AI similar to previous years where you expect your teammate to make a run since you are dribbling forward but it doesn't happen. You have to hit L1 which sends them. Although this year seems better than previous years. However, i did change the attacking mentality of one of my center midfielders (you can do this individually for each player) and i was impressed how i saw that player suddenly making runs into the box that didn't happen before. so i know that is responsive to my command. Also perhaps a good deal of tweaking needs done to make it all better rather than just booting up out of the box and playing like the author of that article might have done.

I really miss fluid formations of PES; i think that is such a good feature. hoping fifa copy it.

I don't think many commercial reviewers even know properly how to play the games they review! How much chance did he give the game by the 28th of September? Is he a casual player? Prefers simulation?? It seems as if he prefers how FIFA used to be, more casual than simulation. Plus, he's never played PES before? Wow, he must be a big fan of football games. / -:

Seriously, people are slating the game because they can't just run down the wing, cross the ball, head it in the net 7 out of 10 times (or whatever). Remember that the core FIFA players prefer 'arcade action' over slower, simulation play. It makes me laugh when people say that FIFA 16 is 'too slow'- they could change the game speed to 'fast'- I have it on 'slow', and it's just the right speed as it isn't really slow, just not like the Benny Hill Show on crack (like the old FIFA games)! They could increase the player speed via the sliders.

People just play with the default settings, then complain without 'tuning' the game- i.e. changing to manual settings, speed of the game etc. It's like buying a radio and saying it's crap because they can't get their favourite station just by pressing the 'on' button. A somewhat crude analogy, but still...

Let's put it this way, I loved PES 5 (and like 6 a lot, too)- also PES 4... hell, and 3! It depends how you play the game, I want each match to be different- I'm not looking for cheap ways to score etc. I don't trust reviews on commercial websites, and often disgruntled people 'hate' a game just because they can't dominate it with cheap tactics. What settings did he use?

Oh yeah... if you play FIFA on assisted settings (i.e. casual mode) then it's a totally different ball game, so to speak; no pun intended! ; -)

That's my take on it!

Im not concerned about goalies that much... Yeah, they make mistakes, but they arent that horrible. (I play only offline, no interest in online). But the one thing I noticed is that I started playing on superstar right from the beginning and sometimes its just too easy. Especially when you dont sprint, but try to avoid AI defenders by just running on a regular speed and moving your player with arrows. I did "Messi" with Diego Costa, with Ayoze Perez, with Lacazette and few other players, meaning I just literally outplayed 3-4 defenders, went into box without holding sprint, just moving on a regular speed (as mentioned) and then just scored goal. It looked so easy and I could do that again and again. It would be alright if it was on a lower level, but now on a superstar! By the way, im playing on ps3, but I suppose there is lots of similarity in terms of gameplay, not visuals between current and old gen, so... Maybe I will try to play on a game speed turned to -1, maybe this will prevent outplaying every defence, without even trying.

Update: Nah, played on -1 speed, but did the same thing with Embolo from Basel against whole Wolfsburg defence. Literally walked in theyr box for some time, no one could steal ball from me, there were lots of free space, because if I`ve beat one defender, others would pull away and only after some time come to help. Interesting.

Hi there (I am on PS4)

Well, I ve not tried walking my way through CPU whole defence line on Super Star LV, how do you dodge AI's tackling in, or they(fullbacks) just stand there and watch you dribble through them then score? I really want to know how you manage to do that. You are talking about PES 2016 right?

Yes, afcorse. When I sprint then usually they take the ball away from me right away, but when I just walk in, they seem to be stunned. They try to take it away from me, there are nice body collision animations and so on, but they just cant do it. haha. Thats the funny part. It might not be so clear from what I`m writing, so I`ll upload a video for you in the evening.

The whole trick is not to sprint, but to take your time and walk in. :D

the only way to make this game harder on superstar in ML is to play manual passing and shooting.
