As long as the Edit mode allows players to edit all unlicensed teams etc AND there is a way in sharing data for it, licenses are no issue. It is the same since the beginning of PES ;)
Gameplay over licenses :)

True but many people either don't know this or they are too lazy to download stuff or they have Xbox One which doesn't have image or save data import feature.

Exactly, Konami can't and won't ever compete with EA. Everyone knows and accepts that. Which is why I would prefer that they make a completely unlicensed OPEN game where the user has the ability to edit every single thing to their liking, by using patches etc. This way it will cost Konami next to nothing to make, they can sell it as a £19.99 budget football game and everyone is happy. As long as the gameplay remains great, everyone else can do the rest of the work for them!

Interesting and good idea. Alone you would have to do a lot of work but the community could sort of merge and one PES site could build the Premier League/Football League/Football League 1 and 2 etc., one PES site the Bundesliga/2/3 etc., one site the National Teams etc. We would have like a 200 league slot where various PES sites around the world could create their own leagues and then all of the data would be compiled to one big file. Also we would have a full stadium editor, scanned face importing, all leagues would have official adverts and unique TV-broadcast etc. That would be a nirvana of football games.

The saddest thing about licenses is that Konami can't really do much for them. When Konami announced these big partnerships (Barcelona, Dortmund, Schalke, Leverkusen, River Plate etc.) EA announced partnership with La Liga, Bayern, Juventus etc., kind of as like a revenge or an answer for Konami, because EA knows that no matter how realistic PES 2017 would be, if there is not enough licenses people will more likely to choose FIFA over it and EA knows also that if PES is missing big teams it will sell even less. I also think that EA Sports might have got a bit scared because in the past years PES has won Gamescom awards, have had even better reviews than FIFA etc. and PES gameplay actually looks very good and that is why EA Sports especially this year has seemed to be very aggressive about the licenses.

typical EA when they get competition they sign licenses but when they cant get an exlusive license they are struggling, for example NBA games. 2k are destroying them there. EA didnt put out a game for 4 years because they couldnt handle the fair competition.

As someone mentioned on another post, Big Ant do a similar thing with their Don Bradman Cricket and Rugby League games. They have a 'fanhub' website where people can post edit data and you can just download it to your game and, bobs your uncle, your game is fully licensed. Takes five minutes. If a small game studio can do it, I'm sure Konami could. Who really cares about individual team licences anyway! How much money did they spend on getting Barcelona?! I mean, I like Barcelona but I don't intend to play every match with them on the new game!

In case you haven't seen it: PES2017 PC version will be the same shit as last year. And the year before. And the year before that one.

Still a shitty PS3 port, no FOX Engine, no improved keepers (same as PES2016), no Adaptative AI, graphics still shit (what's the point of getting better hardware... the best platform graphics wise gets garbage treatment, not even EA does this...), all's shit. I've had enough. They won't see a penny from me. Fuck this.

In theory this would work as it is the same game just with a different name (which is why it was possible on PS3 to convert OF's to/from WE). I think though just like on PS3 all it will bring across is the names as the kits/faces aren't on the PES disc.

That sucks, they might as well just not bother with PC anymore. I though this would be the year they made it a port of the PS4 version.

Yep, and they (Bhatti) even say "It won't reach PS4 and Xbox One level but the future of the series, we're looking at that right now,"

"the future"... "right now"...

And the cunt even says "I'm planning to work on PC next year. Early talks going on.". When have I heard this before? Oh, that's right, last year!

Ali

It is happening again
I wouldn't look into that too much, they'll probably release an update for faces close to release.

I bought PC version the last two years because PS4 version didnt have option files. Patches were great. Im just glad PS4 can finally import/export teams so i dont have to get PC.

Having a jailbroken PS3, I managed to get a copy of PES 2017 on Friday night. I have to say, having played it, I've come to the decision NOT to get it on PS4. I don't think it's that great. Maybe I just have PES fatigue or something. It's certainly not worth shelling out £50 on day one.

I just think they big it up so much each year but if anything it's worse. Sure the gameplay has been tweaked and it does feel better to play. But is that only because it's new? In a month or two will I still get that buzz, or even notice the difference to 2016?

Player faces. Where do I start. Some of the biggest names in football, missing, to be replaced by a crappy PES 'generic' face. No Lahm, Lewandowski, Ribery. Some players who had faces after the Euro update in 2016 have now disappeared due to licenses. Some players who are big enough players by now still don't have real faces.

Did anyone else notice this from playing the demo, how come Barcelona are an official partner, yet half their younger squad members don't have real faces, yet Atletico Madrid and Arsenal seem to have their whole squads with correct faces. The whole thing is just a bit amateur as usual.

Thankfully, playing on a jailbroken PS3, I can make use of the patches on the internet and play the game how it should be played. Yes, it would be nicer to do that on PS4 but it's just not worth the money in my opinion. Maybe in the Xmas sales!
