Played this all last week on PS2 then all weekend on PC + online and all I can say 10 out of 10 your having a laugh. PES5 got to many probs to get a score like that. It is the best footy game out there but its got a long way to go to be perfect.
The CPU cheats on any level, players stats mean nothing, shooting can be really good or a joke( five yards out with the lightest of taps and the ball ends up going over the stand), free kicks still poor and one of my pet hates, play the ball up to your forward and he stands there while the defender nips in and takes it. Your forwards have no idea of playing off the last defender they just run offside and then stand there. Online is still far from perfect with the lack of response to commands, I had a player make a 30yard pass back to the half way line when i told him to cross 3 yards from the byline and dont bother playing offside as I allways get 1 defender hanging back to play everyone onside. Sorry ProEvo lovers, its ok but not perfect. Im just piss off that got to what another year see R.E.A.L progress

Yeh, everytime i see people complaining about PES5, it's only because they're crap at the game. Once you get good you'll blush, because when you can control, score and do what you want in the game, you'll realise it deserves 10 out of 10.

Nice post, i agree with you on a lot of all that. its just become the norm to give it a high score. its good, but it aint 10 out of 10. Where has the crowd gone on the 'wide' camera angle???? As if you would release a game with that type of flaw in it??? And no one comment on it being takin out to stop the slow down, thats a pethetic excuse, for 40 quid KONOMI hasw some explaining to do!

That said i'll still play it untill all hours.

Each new pro evo requires that adjustment period, but he's right with shooting its either really good or real sh#t regardless of stats, the defending tackles have become fairy like, you can't really tackle someone solidly, and the players response when intercepting through balls has become a bit of a joke. And dont give me that noobie Sh#t, Im ace at this game. Someone needed to have the balls to stand up and say "this aint a 10/10 game" and i couldnt agree more.

I totally agree with the noobs who trash the game cause its far far from 10 out of 10, most you guys are too much in love to really see the flaws & faults in the game, there is much that needs improving & Konami has come short in fixing old issues by bringing new ones.
I have played PES for ages since mid 90´s so I have been there during the development but I think much in PES5 is a step backwards.
The cheating, the shooting the slow ballcontroll & lack of defencive improvments, slow twist & turns....the stats dont mean shit.
Adjustment period my arse, I will always be bothered with those flaws even if I win with 10-0.

As a PES/ISS veteran, maybe you should double check WHY your shooting is "crap" sometimes. What has changed in a game and how to do it right.

Read this below, taken from the official GUIDE for PES5.

Shooting
"If a player has his back to his opponent's goal, the precision and pace of shots is vastly reduced. As in real life, the difficulty of twisting to shoot from oblique angles – even at close range – means that the quality of contact will be lower, with the ball more likely to be scuffed harmlessly into a grateful keeper's hands. Players with the Scoring special ability star are much, much better at turning to drill the ball into either corner, but only inside the penalty area. Unless you're deep inside your opponent's 18-yard box, a shot made while facing away from goal will be a waste of possession."


That's just one example.

As a matter of fact, PES5 is dependent on individual attributes more than ever. It's outlined in the paragraph as well that shooting is dependent on stats.

Learn how to "balance" the body weight when shooting; make a good space; and every shot will make sense.

The article tells you about "slow twists and turns" etc... and meaning of stats in a game. You'll be plesantly surprised how much stats MEAN.

By the way, slower pace is nothing more than realistic improvement. PES4 for example was waaaaaaay too fast. Konami finally got the pace right for PES game (since it was always quicker than WE for past 5 years).

Check this out for example:
Player abilities and the special ability stars play a massive part in every match – as the following explanation [one of dozens in the full guide] illustrates.

"If a normal player takes about ten animation phases, players with high Agility might only take eight or six in order to cover the same move," reveals Seabass. "It's a matter of what he can do in a smaller amount of time. If the Agility is higher, a player will be able to kick the ball faster than a normal player, who must take a step and then kick. The higher Agility player can just kick the ball immediately. If a player's Agility is very high but his Dribble Accuracy is very low, that player would not be good at dribbling, but he would be very good in performing quick kicks. So: when he dribbles, both abilities really matter."

i absoultly love the game, thats why im on this site but come of it, pes5 is definetly not a 10 out of 10 game. for starters it hasn't got all the licensing, and when u score there is just no passion in the players. on future games i think konami should work on players personalitys like how they react to referee decesiopns and stuff like that plus were are the subs and managers on the bench, they are empty!!!!! hmy:

Hi i,m in both camps here, i still believe pro evo is an excellent game, and will use its 10 out of 10 scores to fight any ignorant fifa lover, but it has to be said there are still a few flaws in the game, alot from pes4 have been removed but i feel the handling of the game by the ref is awful sometimes, i like the better advantage but it seems some fouls are just overlooked as a sacrifice, and at least a dozen times in a little tournament i had with friends this weekend both players were left wondering a what the decision for a free kick was. I have the official guide and have learnt quite a few things but i havnt enjoyed pes 5 as much as pes 4, im hoping its still cos im in the learning curve of pes 5's new features and style, after pretty much mastering pes 4, is anybody else finding that?

I got mine for £30. Ha. Most people who come on her complaining about the game how crap this and how crap that is are just shite at the game and are just useing the so called bad things as makesift's for there shiteness on pro. Just shut up and play will you.

GET ONE THING STRAIT i have played em all iss,sens-soccer,fifa,olympic-soccer,this is football and all the PES games and i am far from crap. Nice to here some peeps see it for what it is a good game but not great. As for the player abilities, thats good that some players have better skills than others but dont tell me that any player would kick the ball into the next street from five yards out when he's facing the goal. I dont mind this version, but to keep blowing sunshine up Konami a## with this 10/10 crap, will make them turn into EA and think they can do no wrong.

If stats matter then why is etoo with Acc & TopSpeed both above 95 caught up by a shite crap player with Acc & TopSpeed below 80 with or without ball. Ronnie has Shot Acc. below 80 realistic!? Not!! He is slow & 10 frames here & 6 frames there dont matter he is still not convincing. I have watched football for ages & I have never seen snails on the pitch as I do in PES5, I played with barca & in real non of them are slow as a turtle but in PES5 they look like girls.
I love the PES games but I have to say much is ruined for the sake of making it realistic. Who says that just cause its realistic that its gonna be good! & I dont like people making personal attacks just cause a some people have some flaws to mention. Grow up!! Its not like we are gonna start playing EA.

Good point! We shouldn't give it 10 out of 10, otherwise it will hardly ever improve. I've been moaning my ass off on another thread, and thought I'd put my two pence worth here. I love the game, I really do, and I am no noob, I'm very good at it - Almost invincible on PES4. There are so many annoying things with PES5, the cheating is rife and anyone who says it isn't simply does not play enough, or is too ignorant to admit it. The player positioning is shit sometimes, and your players simply refuse to go where you're trying to direct them, choosing instead to stand behind defenders and never make a challenge for the ball. Manual control R2+D-pad works when it feels like it.

Shooting is often diabolical - when you play your mates - any good striker, Henry, Rooney, Shevchenko etc if coming in from an angle to the left of the keeper(running right), balanced running at an average pace (no run button) you tap shoot, it curls around the keeper into the massive space in the goal, bottom right corner (I don't always score goals like that it's just a simple example) - however stick yourself against CPU West Brom with AC Milan in a cup game, they've scored a header from a corner (because you couldn't move any defenders to the ball no matter how hard you tried) and big Nesta gets muscled off and outjumped by Junichi Inamoto...you're in the exact same position I mentioned above at least 3 times with Shevchenko, and each time it's wide/over/at the keeper - it's bollocks. It cheats. Simple as.

Playing your pals or online (when it's not laggy) is great, still irritating when things don't do what you direct them to do, but playing the CPU is highly irritating - I love the master league - I've played PES4 relentlessly since it's release date (that cheats too, but not as bad) I don't know if I can deal with the despair I'll feel with this one! I don't play ANY OTHER GAME (Even Doom III, GTA:SA & HalfLife II couldn't hold my attention for long enough) that's how dedicated I am to PES, but this riles me to uncontrollable levels...

of course pes5 isnt perfect, but its the most perfect football game out now, hence the 10/10. pes2 got 10/10 because when that came out it was the best also. when pes6 comes out that will also probably recieve a 10. games are rated differently as time goes on, a 10 today could become a 8 tommorow.
