A base of a good game ruined by scripting

I've been playing PES since PES2, been dissapointed by the past few PES' and now finally the gameplay is back in the right direction. I feel I can score however and whenever, but it's difficult to do this - just how I want it. As well as all the other great things about the game.

But all of this matters for nothing when the game is scripted. Both win and lose so many games feel like the computer has already decided the outcome before it's started, and this makes playing the game pointless. It may as well be Football Manager!

I'm off to travel the world in Jan, hopefully when I come back in a year, PES2012 will have got rid of the scripting. I'm not holding my breath though!

Rant over, enjoy PES2011 people who can look beyond this!

Personally, I haven't noticed scripting to be any more present in PES 2011 than in all sports games.

Not NEARLY as bad is FIFA scripting, where the CPU actually cheats to win.


I think it's good actually, you go into a match with the CPU setting the atmopshere for the opposition, home/away influence, significance of match etc.

For example I have just had a final CL group stage against Valencia, I was 4 - 0 within the first 20 minutes, match ended in 5 - 1. I could feel my team had some sort of boost, all runs and passes were spot on, the opposition had awful defending. (Home match)

Then straight after 2nd leg of Coppa Italia (2 - 1 Aggregate) so I needed 2 goals to get through, the CPU defence was rock solid, my team seemed to have lost morale, until I recieved a penalty and the game picked up, ending the match in 2 - 0 (Home match against Udinese.

Why would you need super cancel on a game that is "engineered for freedom"? Just more of the same old konami bullshit.

Scripting is there in force unfortunately, I'm quite proud of my defending, it seems the only goals I concede are from corners or freekicks from nothing tackles. That's when you notice it the most. If I'm beating a team that is much better than me 1-0 and they get a corner or freekick, I usually know it's a goal before it's taken. Wouldn't call it game breaking but it can get frustrating.

Yep, I could have added to an existing thread, but wouldn't quite have had the same affect as wanting to rant about it!
metsuri69 - if you don't have anything to say about the discussion in place, why bother saying anything at all? It's incredible how rude people are on this site.

Roadrunner - I see where you're coming from where it feels like your players are really up for the game. It's just to me it feels like even as though I, as the controller of the players, have a bad game, I would still win it. And likewise when the computer 'wants' me to lose, even if I feel I've played well as the controller of the players I will either miss shots, or have a few ridiculously good goals scored against me.

I've often thought this is konami's attempt at 'form', and if this was to vary ingame a lot more, then it could work well. If in one of the games that computer scores it's crazy 'my players won't kick the ball and the goalie dives out of the way goals' cos it has the form, BUT if I do then sneak a goal and then the form switches the other way, I would then at least feel I can change this. As it stands, if I do get this goal, then another stupid goal will be conceded.

I'm not just saying this happening for games I lose, it happens a lot in games I win as well. The feeling of elation when winning has gone, and the feeling of wanting to get better and learn from defeats has gone as well. Such a shame for a game that does play very well.
