A Few Flaws In WE10

I played about 10 matches on 5* so far and i've lost 3 of them won 2 and drawn like 5 of them (most of them 0-0). I like alot of the new features in the game and overall it's better than WE9, but it's very annoying how quickly the cpu players accelerate wen they dribble, it's so hard for my my players to keep up. The players in the game are a bit too agile. Too many times Konami have seeked to improve the versatility of the attacking players with new moves and better ball control and over the years have not changed much in the way a player defends. It's so easy to miss a tackle even wen the player attacking is coming straight at you. I'm talking mainly about using the conservative tackle by the way. One reason for this is because an attacking player has more range in direction (wen using R1), better acceleration and reaction time than the player defending. "Super cancel" is the only thing that can help give range to your movement, but most times it's awkward to manipulate. I wish there were some way to give more range in the movements of players in this game for both attacking and defending. I'm tired of seeing the 45 degree turns in this game. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

i agree with you the 45 dgree angle turn is so obvious in the game and i hate the way the players fall over when turning from an opponent

I played some more matches on 5* using england. I played one match against brazil and won that 2-1, then about 4 matches against argentina (drew the first 3 all 0-0, then won the last one 2-0) and then played against portugal and won 2-1. After getting more use to the game i realized it is a bit more fluent. There is improvement in the animations and movement of the players but there is still the presence of these sharp and sudden 45 degree turns. Aside from that tho, I really have no other complaints about the game just yet. I'm having a lot of fun playing it so far.

Jermsspeed: ""Super cancel" is the only thing that can help give range to your movement, but most times it's awkward to manipulate."

Not if you use 1 finger to toggle from, to, and between :R1:&:R2:

Guys,
Get 1000 points and purchase the six stars difficulty in WE-Shop. The CPU will engage you full on without cheating (First time in WE!), doing the kind of moves that will make you stop and take note. You won't even touch the ball if you're playing the way you are explaining in your post, especially in aerial maneuvering. Playing six stars will force you to adjust to the right style.

Ball interception: Super cancel :R1:+:R2: with a perfectly timed direction-press to intercept, followed by pressing either :R1:(Release :R2:) to quickly dribble away or :R2:(Release :R1:) to slow down the ball and open space for passing.
An example would be intercepting a high ball with your Chest with :R1:+:R2: and then the second touch with your foot holding :R2: and a different direction.

Also if you have to run forward or to the sides to intercept (moving in defense), don't start running with :R1:. First, adjust your direction by pressing :R1:+:R2: with the right direction angle and then let go of :R2: and start running. Hold :R1:+:R2: again before impact to react to opponent's faints! If you are pressing :square: your second player might run more than he should, again quickly tap :R1:+:R2:+:L1: to stop him before he opens a gap in your defense. That's defending by closing all the spaces without the tackle and slide. If you perfect the first steps to closing your defense, you will minimize your use of the :x: & :circle: and improve your tactics in defense.

In offense, after you pass, press your desired direction to adjust your position while receiving (but your receiving player won't adjust quite yet), tap :R1:+:R2: before receiving the ball for the perfect receival, but not for too long or your player might move away and not connect, unless of course you don’t want him to (hint). How many times did you know where to go but your player stumbled and didn't follow through your input? The receiving player will adjust his direction and dribble instantly from the first touch only if you press :R1:+:R2:This is how you put this problem behind you once and for all.

PS: In short don’t put your finger on the shoulder buttons unless it’s on both buttons, even for a nano second, and then release one of them for the desired move.

PPS: For simple 1-2s, tap :R2: after passing.

Hope this will help you enjoy the game more.

Luay, nice info. Many thanks for that. :)

Nice post Zygalsky, even if it's old story for me since 60% of my play is based on super cancel from the time it appeared in PES 1. But, I think however, that there's a flaw that appears sometimes with supercancels in WE10 compared to previous titles. For example, when you kick a corner, and then you wanna make a cancel with the receiver so that you can position him manually in order to perform a volley or bicycle or diving header etc. Unfortunaltely, in WE10, you can't do it properly because as soon as you super-cancel, the receiver or selected player seems to completely lose focus on the ball, and it's nearly impossible therefore to intercept the ball, it woukd be already a real pain in the *** to make him stand in front of the trajectory of the ball. Do you experience the same problem?

Hey Luay, nice info on the super cancel and stuff, but i think you were slightly misled by my post. I wasn't saying that i didn't use super cancel, becasue i do use it alot, i was just saying that it's awkward at times to switch to and from it. However I am gonna have to take back some of wat i said cuz playing the game more makes me realize how good this WE10 really is. Althought there are the 45 degree turns the gameplay feels really good. I love the challenge it brings.

As for yur comment "You won't even touch the ball if you're playing the way you are explaining in your post, especially in aerial maneuvering" I beg to differ. For one, I never mentioned how i played in my post, and secondly although I'm a newbie in the forum doesn't mean i'm a newbie in playing the game. Fact is I may not post much but i've been on the forum for some time. On a different note, how is online play for this game? I'm gonan get a new memory card so i can try out 6*. How are yur match scores on 6* by the way Luay?

PS: I would own you if i played you :p

Thanks Jermspeeds,

Slightly misled? Super cancel is what takes the "awkwardness" away from WE10. You said the opposite. That aerial maneuvering bit was said to emphasize the difference between those who use Super cancel and those who don’t. Maybe I stepped on your toe or pressed your thumb:blush: . No disrespect, but I post whatever I find out hoping others will do the same. Don’t mistake that for bragging, even though I’m all for it. I never played online (and can’t this year because internet is slow here in Saudi) but the challenge is welcome. I'll make jermsoup out of you.

My team is made of 16 players (16 -22 yrs old with the highest growth rate). First game is always easy. 3-0. Then it’s draws and one goal difference wins but no losses yet. (2nd division)It's ok as long as every player in my squad is rated 6.0 or above after every game. 100% of the goals scored against me are from crosses and corners. The COM's cross on 6 stars was killing me yesterday.

Flaws

I cannot say tha I have noticed the flaws you mention.
I have been playing on 6 stars for about a week now. I really hoped that it would solve the problem of the keepers parrying so much. It doesnt!!!
I think the keepers thumble and parry the ball way too much in WE10.
Shame that 6 stars does not solve the problem!

No offence taken Luay, just didn't want you to think i was a newb. Anyways as for beegary's comment, I would have to agree. The keeper does fumble the ball a little too much. Does he still do that on 6*?

that sentence made you a n00b. If you haven't even played six stars, I don't think you should comment on teh "flaws". Those are not flaws, those are just tweaking that change the way we play this game.

If you haven't play six stars, I don't think you'll own anyone.

Ok I played enough of six stars to say my ass hurts from the kicking. Definitely need to get 18 players at least. Holding :triangle: during free kicks makes the keeper move behind the walls.
