Yea, unfortunately that is true. It works even better when we push the CF all the way forward in our formation settings. We just got to know how to defend against it.

I find that through balls from deep will split the defence, usually two defenders will leave a gap between the striker, my rationale for this is that the default setting is for marking is zonal in these situations, so I usually stick one of defenders on man marking duty and let him deal with the striker, or you can use a DM and use him to track the run and free the defenders to step up on midfielders or double on wingers.
