Advanced shooting?

SO I've been playing with advanced shooting on, thinking it was the future but I was becoming annoyed how long the strikers took to shoot, because I was watching the target.
So I turned it to manual and holy moly, the game is now miles better. Not only can I shoot and actually score I've notices a few other things too. Players now snatch at shots more, and although very frustrating I seem to drag shots well wide now which is more realistic, rather than almost always flashing shots past the post, but, and I mean a big BUT, I've also noticed that I can now header the ball!
Anyone else noticed that when advanced shooting is on you can't header the ball. My defenders always try and bring the ball down but now they charge forward and head it clear? It's completely baffled me.
So since turning the shooting to manual I like the game again, and can actually score goals now too. Bonus.

Wow, I think I'll have to give manual shooting a try. By the way, can you tell me what happens when using manual shooting and no direction is pressed while shooting, on advance shooting it just means it will go in the dead middle of the goal, but what happens on manual shooting?

Tried manual shooting and, well, what a mess. Some of my shots were hitting the corner flag. I literally couldn't hit anything. They should change the name from manual shooting to random shooting.

Unfortunately, advanced shooting is the default setting, and IMO it just doesn't work - when I shoot from far away, I don't even see the target. And when I shoot from inside the penalty area, I want my player to shoot immediately - but advanced shooting makes him takes his while, and often either the goalkeeper smothers the ball, or my players fails to take the shot first-time like I want him to, and blows the chance.
And as for manual shooting, I hate it, the '360 controller is not accurate enough for "manual" shooting, like the original poster says.

Basic shooting is perfectly fine - you point the stick up and the player shoots toward the upper side of the goal. You pull the stick back and you produce a low shot. What more could I guy want?

I have thought about a proper "manual shooting" option with a target and everything, and reached the conclusion that such a feature should be accompanied with a slowdown and a camera shift so that the player takes half the screen and the goal the other half. But such a feature would interfere with the flow of the game and would have to be portioned so that the player can use it only 2-3 times per match, in critical situations.

I take it back, manual isn't the best, basic shooting is. If it ain't broke...
