Is it me or since Pro 08 (i think) has the advantage rule gradually gotten worse.

Last night i was playing with England - Beckham and Heskey were running at one Romaninan defender; Beckham had the ball knocked it past the man and got taken out but Heskey was onto the ball within half a second and subsequently through on goal. The ref blew up for the free kick!!!!!

Now i know what you are thinking and yes a 40 yard out free kick is probably an advantage over Heskey through 1 on 1 but this a major backwards step in the game, surely 2 seconds to see if there is any advantage there and pull it back if there aint would be the answer like it was a couple of editions ago.

yea i agree, there are many times when I should be getting advantage, but the ref blows the whistle, very frustrating

I remember advantage was spot on in Pes 5, then Konami decided it would be funny to fuck it up. I think this version has the worse too. Many times I would get slide tackled but he misses and just grazes my legs. My player barely stumbles, easily stays on his feet and becomes wide open with good options for a pass. Ref blows the whistle.

These are the things that really hurt the fans. You start playing the series because it has so many nice features but as it evolves they take so many steps back in areas that you really liked (PES 5 had PERFECT refereeing -- playing advantage only to brandish a card later, spotting bad tackles from good ones -- and goalkeeping) in the name of improving the weak areas that it's no longer the game that you loved.

All that is holding me onto PES is nostalgia; those moments that are rare and far between that remind you of the game that you once loved. That and the fact that FIFA 10 isn't next-gen on the PC yet.

Its Konami, they take out good stuff that nobody really moans at. At this stage we should all just expect this to happen every year.

2011 should be fun then!
