Advice With Freekicks

Can someone define the best way to hit a freekick and explain if the R1 and R2 button does anything and the types u should use?
P.S - why isit sometimes when hitting a freekick and I power up the bar instead of a hard shot they hit a sort of looped shot. It goes up and down really slow?

well, in WE9 it feels like you get more curl if you press R2, and you shoot harder with R1.

R1 & R2 ... has no effect in we9...

now we should use Dpad up, power shot
Dpad down, weak shot

afer you press square to give the desired amount of power to the shot, you should press...

triangle to give more power or the X button to give more colocation to the shot...

then, using the Dpad you select the desired effect, left or right

dj_tommy you're wrong, in WE9 when the gauge is visible if you press R1 ou L1 you put an effect (right if R1 is pressed, left if L1 is pressed)

(Go to the Pause menu, look for it & try it )

i play pro4 and i hold r2 on all my free kicks and aim for the corner try it works most of the time

tip for fee kick just out side the box

dont aim over the wall aim for the poast the keeper is covering keep your shot power under half way and hold tryangle for a hard shot.try to keep the shot low it is best to us some one like carlos or beckham but i have found it works quit well with most players.

Just to add on a bit. The 'effect' is actually a 'dummy' to change the entire direction of the shot. Useful in 2P mode.

Say your aiming right, and use L1 with it. You run up looks the same but the shot will go left as if you had aimed left to begin with.

Only other buttonss involved are up (Powerful),down (less powerful), left,right(curl), before kicking and triangle (dip) or X (float) modifiers after the kick.

The FK in We9 is much improved and using R1,R2,and L1 is essentail:
For instance:
1.From 17 to 22 M,u press R2 + Down + Square to the half the meter exact + left curl with a the D-Pad if the player is left and vicesersa + X.
2.From 23 to 24 depending on the angel:
a.IF from a side u press R2 + L1 + Sqaure to half the meter exact then Triangle + the curl.
b.IF from the middle,u press R2 + Down + L1 + Square to half the meter then Triangle + the curl.
3.From 25 to 27 depending on the angel:
a.IF from a side,u press R1 + L1 + Sqaure to half the meter then X + the curl.
b.IF from the middle u press R1 + L1 + Square to half the meter then Triangle + the Curl.
4.From 28 to 32 u press R1 + Up + Sqaure to 3/4 the meter then X if from a side or Traingle if from the middle + the curl.

PS:This guide is for all free kick types but it differrs for the shoot rate so u have to practice on a certain player to master it and cheers...

I dont know about WE9 but ive got PES4 on Xbox and the way i see it is:

Short Freekick : Beckham - He is unbelievable when it comes to freekickes around the box. When you have a freekick on the left (From your side) just kick it in holding down the R2 button and make sure its not too hard and it will curve right in and keeper wont move. Won a lot of games in the last min with that lol. And when the freekick is being taken from the right side outside of the box, just aim for the top corner behind the wall and just tap (a small tap, not continously, just tap once) the B button and Beckham will pass it over the wall straight into the net and keeper wont reach it most of the time, just like in real life

Long Freekick: Zidane or Figo - I cant tell you how often ive scored from the midline with these 2. Just aim outside the goal (not too much) hold down R2 and kick it with the power just over the center of the powerbar. Ittl go in or come real close so u can head it in.

Long Freekick: Ronaldinho - If you have a freekick in your own half u usually cant shoot, youll have to pass it. But when u do it with this guy you will get reall close. I even managed to score from my own half with him. The R2 button (i think thats what its called lol) gives it a real nice curve which will leave the keeper powerless most of the time.

You can combine tactics for free kicks or something like that?
I mean, can you press dpad Up + Square to half power meter, release them both and then press R1? Or do you have to press them all?

Well bloodwizard I must say that helped me, I got goals from 2 and 3 but 1 and 4 are harder.

i'm glad it helped mate .
The buttons are:
R1 boosts the shot.(before u shoot)
R2 weakens the shot.(before u shoot)
L1 makes the shot more accurate.
triangle makes it dip sharply.
X makes it float swiftly.
R1 makes a sharp curve to the right.(after u shoot)
L1 makes a sharp curve to the left.(after u shoot)
use the after shooting tactic while using two players on the fk.
but for old style free kick the d-pad is sufficient.
