Who is the jackass? ....This post has no relevance to the question, in fact it has not relevance to or anything does it even make sense? Phiising?


Anyway what I would say is if the AI feels you brought him down in any way unnecessarily then I believe there is either a strong chance he scores from the FK or a definate goal...alothough I havn't as yet played the 2013 to death be be confident about this though I am confident this is the way it worked in 2012

I have noticed this now. If you tacle the AI on a breakaway, the AI will surely score on the free kick especially if the taclkle happened near the penalty area. Just another evidence of cheating AI. There's no way to block the free kick.

If you manually move the keeper a bit out, and to the side depending on the angle you stand a much better chance of saving it.

If using the XBOX controller, if you press LB + (Right Stick), You get to control the keeper. Then move him a bit towards the far post from him. (usually middle between the goalposts works fine for me).

The shots are saved 9/10 times.. :D

Although its been said, moving the keeper is the key to saving these annoying.

Gets me when the keeper cant be moved though!

Jenkey Gameply Tool Editor fixed that for me,now they don't score always from free kicks,allot the times the keeper defend or they just miss.

I use it with the Smoke Patch. Just install/unrar Jenkey's into another folder in PES's default directory. And attach the Gameplay config file to pes2013.exe . That's it. (you can adjust the sliders as you like.. though I haven't found the best setting as of yet)

Thanks ath007, that's great news, I'll give it a go too.

Although, I haven't noticed the AI always scoring on free kicks. They used to, in PES 2011 it really did my head in when no matter how weak the team was about 95% of free-kicks within range were goals. I used to put a defender on the goal line to try and head it clear. Even more frustrating because I'm rubbish at taking them! This year the ratio seems much better though, much more realistic.

Well the best is to put slider for AI to 0,and check box for Enforce AI balance,i'm playing on Top Player and its very challenging.

Also NOTICE that you can turn sound higher,so the matches with that are much better immersive.because now you can actually club supporters cheering! ;)




Otherwise can you tell me more about that Smoke patch,what does it improves ?

Im fairly sure if you can't move your keeper for a free kick then it will not go in, I have never had one scored against me when I cant move him, something which again feeds into the scripting theory.

This issue has been in PES 2012 discussion if I remember correctly. You could try to press square (PS3 controller) just after the ball fly away from kicker's foot. This is all about timing, practice makes perfect. I just play against Real Madrid in CL, and Cristiano Ronaldo got 2 free kick from about 27m and his shoot can be blocked by my defender. It's all bout timing, you can't spam the button it will fail to jump and block the shoot, press it before the ball has been kicked also will fail in blocking the shoot, really just after the ball has been kick.

I shifted from regular to Professional for the first time on this game. I still win games only with much frustration. Things I have observed is that like you said; Opposition score 95 % from free kicks, It's imposable to play them offside as there is always that one player of yours on the far side playing them on-side. Doesn’t matter how much you try to place the cursor on him and move him in a position to play opposition off-side it just don’t work. The cursor for some messed up reason just don’t want to settle on him. So you find that one defender is playing three to four players of the opposition on-side. I also find that on professional level that AI most of the time score with 1-2 scoring opportunities while I have 60-80 % possession and up to 12 shots on target but none at times and or 1-2 goals to show. Most of the games I have to come back from behind. I have a new strategy which is once I score I keep on passing the ball around which already has become so boring. Does anybody have a strategy for a more balanced game on professional?

Don't use Jenkey Patch,it sucks. Just download 1.02 patch and AI won't score always from free kicks,goalkeepers have better reactions and AI overall is ALLOT better.

I just wonder when Konami is planning on doing away with this bull of a strategy; I just had a game against Newcastle- I had 80% possession 19 shots on goal of which 17 on target and only 1 goal. Newcastle had 1 shot at goal and score from it. And this is the story of PES as far back as PES 3. Guess how that goal for Newcastle came about? You bet it, from a free kick. The free kick was taken on the halfway line.....

There are scoring position, angles inside and outside of the box. The best way to find them is to see how a cf with the hidden ability Positing, DF positioning is moving in field! He is placing him self automatically in scoring positions.

All you have to do is copy the moving and timing you passing to the cf and you will score many goals even with very low stats players! like the d. milito you can see here at the level of 58:

he cant run, he can't dribble but these hidden abilities made possible to score 3 goals in 2 games and a 7 in rating!

So you need a tool that will tell you what players have these Hidden abilities and take only them in your team.
