AI is what ruins PES 2011

Really , this game improved many issues from the past and added some really good additions , it could easily be an amazing game, but its not, because of the AI.

Im just going to point out some obvious big flaws with it

in BAL mode , the manager is dumb, will put u in positions u dont even play or on the wrong side ( why do we even have a favorite side? ), and make very weird formations etc...

In the game itself

GK - horrible , I really have nothing to add im sure everyone already noticed so far that they are simply horrible.

Defenders - They lose the ball to attackers at least a few times per game and then the attacker usually runs 1 on 1 vs the keeper , its just amazing how stupid the defenders are, I mean a player runs towards them and instead of pulling the ball away ( shielding it ) or even draging it around the attacker in the opposite direction of his running hence escaping for a bit ( usually what xavi does alot so you know what I mean ) they TURN DIRECTLY TOWARDS THEM and lose the ball, I mean seriously...

Midfield - the most balanced but still stupid , they mostly never do any good trough balls when the situation opens and theres a good chance for a really good trough ball, instead they usually do it in all the wrong moments so half of the balls run just to be intercepted by an opposing defender, also they never make air trough balls even when there is no other option , they rather run into a player and lose the ball or try a grounded trough ball directly into the defender.

Forwards - Simply retarded , they shot the ball straight into defenders , when they go 1on1 they miss the goal 9 times out of 10 or pass the ball to the goalkeeper because they shot instantly after they get it instead of running towards the goal ( since they get a trough pass ) , they almost never try actually tricks or good dribble moves , I mean instead of draging the ball to the side like every normal soccer player would they run straight into the defender.


Overall the AI is simply horrible , when you control a team you can outplay them with no problems at all , and when you play BAL your whole team is completely useless , Barcelona getting outplayed 55% - 45% possession by Zaragoza , things like that which make no sense at all.

Players on ur team not making runs must be the most frustrating game ever , ur on a break trying to counter and ur player stand around or start to run BACK instead of forward lol.

Overall if the AI would be good this game would be almost near perfect , but as it is now the game is really being dragged down by this horrible AI.

This is exactly what I argued about too. Im beginning to hate the game cuz of the retarded AI: It ruins the whole freakin game. I havent played it for days now... The AI is too unrealistic. I guess I will have to wait for pes 2012...

PES11 is like marmite.
You either love it or hate it.

The other day I loved it then the next day hated it.
I havent played since Thursday mainly coz im watiing for the 20 Option file to be released but its worrying that im not even bothered about not playing it.

Compared to previous Evos in the first week of release ive hardly played it.

Did I mention yet how many times a ball is knocked loose or somehow deflected your AI teammates that are like 2m infront of it will just stand or even move away , while the opposition thats 10m will run towards it and sweep the ball , lol.

bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch thats all you lot do... dont play the game close this thread and dont log on to this site, unless any of you can explain to me exactly how the ai can be perfect and how this can be achieved with the technology currently used including code information and how konami can implement this into the game which no doubt that they (konami) and fifa have paid professionals with more experience on how to make games than you...simply shut up and stop going on about it, infact could you email konamis technical department and tell them of your AI problem and let them know you know more than them and that the *AI* is easily fixed with your intelligence and input..... infact why dont you make a football game and see how easy it is to make *AI* work like a human coz i think you'd be suprised................maybe theres a reason why ea and konami are having problems with *AI* why dont you ask them as to why it cant be perfected?

good point,because in all honesty the good overshadows the bad a lot, so just play the game and stop the complaining because at the moment it is the best football game out there.

This is so true! players dont seem to know the ball is near them!

Also when you slide in or think your sliding in with one player your centre back slides on the floor!! it then leaves a gap for the attacking team to put the ball through. so annoying!

Anyway, pes is not a complete waste of time. But I cannot really judge since I haven't played the demo. BUT
FIFA 11 IS ACTUALLY A WASTE OF TIME too. It's basically AI CONTROLLED the whole match. Yes even on 2 players. it's decided by the AI. It's scripted.
I always try to stay in the middle but this year I cannot stand fifa anymore.
The AI is really, really poor and horrible.
There's no excuses for that and I don't need to mention how the AI ruins fifa because anyone can see it.

PES is not about what u want ur players to do...
PES is about what u need to do with ur players to make it work...
And a good strategy or tactics helps it to make it work.

U can't just make 11 players move the way u want em to move...

I agree, some stuff is unexplainable stupid, but stuff like that sometimes happens in RL...

After a day of owning PES11, I find it hard to believe that some people actually had to "adapt" to the massively different PES11.

PES5 and PES11 are the same fucking game, as far as I'm concerned: dumb, superficial, outdated, automatic, scripted, insubstantial, stat driven, repetitive, predictable, etc, etc.

I am very disappointed with the product. In my opinion, it is dumber than PES10, it feels like a mix of PES5 with FIFA09, after experiencing the ability of dictating my own script with the L2 STRATEGIES and off-the-ball movement of PES10: PES11 -engineered for freedom- feels very restrictive, scripted, automatic, insubstantial, where it matters the most.

PES11 is pick up and play, a game for the masses; a clear indication of what Konami intends to do with future PES games.

Dumb AI does not ruins the experience for me; for me it has everything to do with the gameplay concept being stupid, dumb AI or smart AI is a redundant argument, when the foundation on which it stands is dumb.

PES11 was a waste of good money if you asked me. Sad, but that's my two cents on it: pick up and play, the noobs are actually better at PES11 than they were at PES10, which pretty much says it all really.

Playing PES11 feels like playing 2K10; only difference is, that Football should never feel like Basketball.... and Konami has successfully done that with PES11, they turned a substantial and clever game like Football, into a quick and insubstantial and easy fix; Konami neglected the essence of Football, for cheap tricks and thrills.

Gun_Runner was spot on about PES11; I think FIFA11 is more of the same stupid shit.... but Gun_Runner was right about PES11, should have listened to him before wasting good money on such a product.

For me, PES11 feels more like PES5 or FIFA09; it has nothing to do with PES10, as far as I'm concerned.

If you still enjoy playing PES5, then you are likely to like PES11; however, if you cannot enjoy PES5 anymore... then you might see PES11 like a step backwards.

I think this is the last PES game I will buy in this generation of consoles. I will wait a good 3 or 5 years, before I invest more money on a PES game or Football Simulation.

Before reading that I've experienced the same issues in BAL mode, and I've emailed the donotlikeit.

Fifa 11 are better, even with they issues too, PES 2011 was supposed to be better than 2010 cause of the improvements, but the AI is completely stupid, you can easily make goalstorms like 7x0 you with an weak team against Inter Milan.

Then, look at the official release date and the transfers, why Konami put in the market an extremely outdated game? If you don't have an good ISP like me? I'm downloading slowly and PESPatch, but after playing a half of a season in BAL mode, I've uninstalled the game. I've almost uninstalling Fifa 11 too, I'm dissapointed with those next-gen football games. :\

OBS: I've been always a Fifa hater (the last that I've liked a little was World Cup 2002) and a PES player since Winning Eleven 3.
