A Quotation from the article

"Ray Maguire, who looks after the UK, his number one priority is PS2 this Christmas, and PSP is clearly number two. In the UK there is still 50% of the software to be sold. Konami will come out with PES5 in September or October and they're already developing six for PS2 for next year because they are confident that as the installed base goes up they will make money from it. Not everyone dives in and buys the PS3 because the price is still relatively high. Not everyone has the money to be able to go out and buy it."

the main likelyhood is that ps3 will be delayed to xmas 06 meaning that pes 6 wud be on ps2 neway and pes7 will go on ps3

I dont like this news much because that means Konami have not started work on a PES on next generation consoles yet.

lol i know where Madrileno's coming from though, the differences between each number in the series is diminishing each year and i think alot of people are waiting for the next BIG step up - namely on the PS3 and thus the prospect of waiting another year for the next-gen release isn't a great one.

Well said. But i don't think we will have to wait too long for Pro Evo to appear on the PS3. Seeing as the console will almost certainly be released in spring 2006, i can see PES6 coming out as normal in October 2006, which is about six months after the PS3's release. By then there should be a big enough base of PS3 owners to make next-gen PES6 viable.

Although I think spring 2006 is a bit early for the PS3, I believe that Pes6 will most definitely be out for both Xbox360 and PS3.

The way the quotation puts it, you're supposed to read that the ps2, is still a way off being put to sleep, and that Nokami developing pes6 for it already is a sign of it still having a few years on its back. But that definitely doesnt mean that Nokami aren't developing for the ps3 and xbox360 already.

And a final piece of advice. Dont expect too much from the first edition of Pes on the next gen machines. It definitely won't be anywhere near what they'll release the year after the first.

EDIT: Well, i certainly wrote "definitely" a hell of a lot of times considering its all speculation ;)

I wouldn't take too seriously all of this talk about PS3 not being a priority right now. Of course it is. Sony have been struggling to sell PS2 consoles, basically because everyone owns one, hence the slimline PS2/silver PS2/PSP - they are trying to milk it for as long as they can. Sony are trying to keep the PS3 quiet because they still want to sell PS2s and its software. By giving a release date for PS3, people will stop spending money on the PS2 and start saving for PS3. The bottom line is, Sony must release the PS3 shortly after XBOX 360 (which should be out Xmas this year), otherwise it will lose 100,000s of sales. So i really do believe spring 2006 will be the release date. Not everyone can afford to buy both consoles (me included).

Thats ok cos I'll deffo be getting the 360 so in that sense, not long until a next gen release if it will appear on that system first.

IMO PES6 and Winning Eleven 10 will come out on BOTH PS2 and PS3.....
I do remember the last time when PS2 was just launched, the following installment of Winning eleven(i tink its WE4.... its sooooo long ago) was available on both PS1 and PS2.....

And i'll stick to the PS series cos WE originated from there.... no to Xbox....
