seems like you're going by what you've heard about fifas from the ps2 and pc.
Have you played fifa 08 on the ps3 or xbox360? You cannot honestly say any goal is the same?! It's pretty difficult to score 40 yard belters in that game.
pes 08 was awful and the way to score a goal was to take a potshot, keeper parries it along the goaline and you tap in the rebound. Or the keeper would push the ball into the goal when fired straight at him.

I've been a fan of PES since PES1 but for me the best versions were PES3 and PES4, after which things went downhill and there weren't really any new ideas or improvements to the games. Every year Konami promise that the next PES will be better but both versions on XBOX360 have been quite poor. I've played the 360 version of PES09 and it is visually excellent and plays a lot slower than previous games so it could be quite good. But I'll keep an open mind and we'll see what happens (even if I do buy PES and then think about renting/borrowing FIFA).
I have a video of the new PES09 that I made when at the national finals. You've probably seen loads of those by now.

I played the fifa 09 demo on the ps3 and it doesnt seem bad. so now im i'm contemplating going over from pes cos im getting bored with it cos they never fix any of the problems with refs and the players runs are crap. the fifa demo seems a lot better than the last fifa game i played (although to be fair i hadnt played one on a next gen console before now). It used to be fifa who hit the target every time you shot but now pes 2008 lets you score from anywhere (even on the highest difficulty). The only problem for me with the fifa demo i played was with the graphics. i dont understand the people who say fifa has better graphics cos the players dont look much like the players from far off whereas with pes you can tell who the player is without zooming in and also the players all look about the same height which is annoying and they run pretty similar but apart from that it looked like it was going down a road similar to pes's way of playing cos it felt much more free than i remember. although i especially like the look of the graphics with the one on one part of the demo with ronaldinho but it doesnt look like that in the game. Another thing is that fifa seemed harder to me and it is very hard to run past many players which is good because in pes you can run past the whole team too easily. So i am really having diffulty deciding whether or not to get it. what was pro evo 2008 like on the ps3 cos it was meant to have diving and what not and sounded pretty good but i only had it on the ps2?
pro evoultion in my opinion will always be better than fifa e.g.
fifa 08 was the best fifa yet but is still wasnt better than pes2008 even though in my opinion it was the worst pes ever. but i still think fifa is a enjoyable football game, pes is too fun and i think pes2009 will be the best pes to date since last years was abyismal

seee from where i'm looking fifa ain't improved at all, it just looks good, i've been playing the demo and to tell you the truth it is just the same old fifa just hiding behind new texture, that ball is still glued to the feet, you can pretty much win every tackle, shooting is way off and feels like there's no weight behind your shot, passing seems very floaty, frew balls are slow and never seem to feel like your in a rush to get that ball in the goal. i'm sort of trying to see whats good about it, the players seem to look funny to, one good thing i think is how they move with the ball i like tht, and the one thing i do love about it and thats the bea pro thing, but other than that its a very slow, and floaty game which just still doesn't feel like you accomplice anything when you score. and hold on a minute, i remember didn't pro evo have be a pro way before they came up with it, i remember playing pro evo and being able to be one person in the game, all fifa done has took there idea and made into it's own, yes i like that part, but the rest to me and it feels like same old fifa, i dont think fifa will ever have the feeling of pro evo where you know that if ur not inb the rioght position it aint going to be effective, pro evo's passing just feels more heavy, and the ball doesn't stick and you can't always get the ball back you have to work for it and thats what makes pro evo well pro evo. i'm not just a fan trying to big it up, i'm a hardcore gamer, and just love my football aswel and pro evo is not going to be beaten ever, i'm not seeing there isn't majoy things wrong with pro evo but really the core gameplay is unbelieveable i think we've just come to expect what pro evo offers and want alot more, when really the gameplay has never changed. just aspects of it.
if you think fifa 09 demo gameplay is slow, then you shouldnt even be following football my friend. The reason you think fifa 09 is slow is because you are used to the pro evo 2008 super speed arcade.
all i can say is that i have always got fifa first just because it came out first and then i would trade it in as always for pro evo (silly yes i know)
last year fifa admitadally came on leaps and bounds, were as pro evo..........lets just say it took a few steps back ;p
i have downloaded fifa 09 demo and i have to say i'd easily say it was better than pes 2008 but then again that is'nt sayin much considering what a mess pes 2008 is
but all in all fifa this year does look like a contender if not more to pro evos crown

As an older gamer(yep i remember iss on the snes!!), it was generally accepted that pro evo played the better, or should i say more realistic simulation of our beloved game. In my opinion versions 3,4,and 5 being the highpoints of the series. However over time, its become quite apparent(in my view) that Seabass and co have become either very lazy, or dare i say it, over confident, over the last two, three years.
After purchasing a 360 for the arrival of pes6, lets just say i was pretty gutted!!!Even my mates couldnt see a great deal of graphic improvement from the old ps2 versions, still it was pes and the gameplay has always been more important anyway. Pes 2008, came and went, it was ok, not great but no where near as bad as somepeople make out, the big problem is that for the first time since fifa 95, ea actually produced a decent game in fifa 08, sure the players still move like theyve rolled in glue!! but it was a massive improvement, even some of my mates bought it!!! Now after playing EAs last installment euro 2008(yep its pretty good apart from the mental ai, that allows the mighty Faroe Islands to defend like the azzuri!!).
So i find myself at a crossroads, i certainly cannot justify buying both, as firstly the wife will probably kill me, after spending near enough eighty quid, and secondly i dont have nowhere near enough time to play both games(DIY, GARDENING BEWARE KIDS STAY AT HOME AS LONG AS YOU CAN!!!). So what will it be, i suspect i will go with my heart and go for pro evo, but its close, Konami dont screw it up this time, ok!!!
