Anyone else a little annoyed on the through ball pass?

I noticed compared to the older PES's, this one's use of the Triangle or through ball button, it just isnt as effective and causes me alot of problems when trying to use it.

For example there is a guy clearly making a through ball type run, and when you push triangle instead of doing a strong through ball, it does a pass to the closest guy across from you!

It pisses me off cause the game lost this edge which took a piece of my style of play away.


Do you guys feel this too?

That's why I changed from normal through pass to air through pass, it's extremely accurate now in PES9! And yes the AI is always a big problem in PES.

^The ai IS ALWAYS A PROBLEM IN PES.
Anyway, the through balls are good in pes 09. Double pass the ball, then press through ball WITH DIRECTION and it works well.
As for the long pass (L1+triangle). Those are the best thing.

The through pass in pes09 isn't that bad? If you used to play with top player ( difficuties), you must know how to fully utilize the air through ball..

all of the advice above is good buddy, and remember you can avoid passing to a closer team mate by holding down the relevant button (triangle or x in my case) for LONGER in order to achieve the pass to the further man. But you gotta make sure you're using the correct direction command

Yea thats what i try, but i need to pass it off quick, and holding the triangle takes too long and the defener blocks it.


Air through balls are back to where they were though in WE 8 or PES 4 i think?


I just wish the Triangle had the same manageability as it did in PES 6 or WE:2007.

No the through pass is very good,but you must know when to use it.

I think PES has always had a problem with the passing when you've got two players in the same general area, and it's with regular passes as well. I've had times where I'm pressing down to pass to a guy and the ball ends up going forward (because there's a guy in front and slightly "below" me that's closer than the guy hanging out on the sideline). Frustrating, but I don't think it'll ever be perfect.

I do wish the game was a little more intelligent on through balls. I had a very fast middie running down the channel with a defender goal side. The entire area of the field between him and the sideline was wide open. I planned on the through ball going out wide to the sideline and letting him run down the line, but instead it goes inside the man and directly to the defender.

I guess technically that was a through ball, but in this game a through ball is also the only way to play a pass that leads someone and isn't directly at their feet (or behind them, as seems to be happening somewhat frequently).
