Attacking and cheating\scripting (whatever you want to call it!)

The biggest things that have put me of PES the past few years has been a mixture of the 2 things above. In 2008 and 2009 (apart from the fact they were terrible games, the emergence of BAL aside in 2009) was the cheating\scripting in games. It always felt that the AI had decided whether I was going to lose or win. For every game your players couldn't string 2 passes together, you had a game where everything would hit the back of the net.

In 2010 I didn't play it long enough to see if this was still there, as when I won the Master League in my second season with the original players (plus signed players) on Top Player I got bored, more due to the fact that I only scored about 20 goals, but also only conceded about 5! I don't class myself to be a good player, and weakest point has always been defending, so the lack of attacking bored me!

So my question is, in 2011 is the attacking better, and what is the cheating\scripting like.

Thanks!

P.s. Those of you who think cheating\scripting has never been in the game, please ignore that part!

From what i've heard, it's still the same as ever...But don't you think that its atleast better than hitting the CPU for a 5 every time?

No, I don't think it's better than winning every time. If it's too easy for me, and I enjoy the gameplay, then I just keep taking a worse and worse team as it gets easier and easier. Or in the case of the ML, I only buy players of a certain quailty.

There's nothing worse than everytime you lose feeling like it could be because the AI didn't 'want' you to, and the same lack of satisfaction in winning because you're thinking it was one the games that AI 'wanted' you to win.

The CPU scores more, that's for certain. I think this was a major problem in earlier PES games, CPU attacks were usually predictable and easy to defend against. In PES 2011 they hold onto the ball better in the final third plus they can thread in good through balls, which is a good thing, keeps you on your toes.

As for scripting, unfortunately it is there, maybe only in Top Player mode though, it's the only level I play, professional is too easy.

Free-kicks that opponents win in added on time is stupid, every time they get one I know it's a goal. In one game added on time was up, I was defending a 1-0 lead, I played the ball into the opponents half a good two thirds into there half....still no whistle, was tackled just outside there box....still no whistle, they proceeded to play the ball past the half way line....still no whistle, there CF ran into my defender (not a foul in my book) got a free kick and scored....I kick off and the Ref finds his whistle. probably had about 10mins added on time rather than the 3 we should have had.

But it's only a game and I'm top of the league so it's no biggie.

Very well said,

PES has always played like this, and it will always play like this if the concept is never actually replaced.

PES and FIFA revolve around COM dictated gameplay, STATS driven gameplay: this has worked for well over a decade, but for me, it has given all it could give.... it just feels outdated, dumb, insubstantial, superficial, easy, boring, at this point.

Like all PES games, I never feel like I am using the STATS to my favor, I feel like the STATS are doing all the work by themselves, automatically.

Konmai can and should find the way, of making the game feel like you are using the STATS, making the game feel like the STATS will not function automatically.

Kinda like CHESS. In CHESS, you have STATS, but it takes skills to use the mentioned STATS properly; because the STATS are determined by the player, the STATS are not determined by a COMPUTER.

In PES11, any noob can take Lio Messi and score an easy goal, because the STATS work automatically; the video game does not revolves around mechanics that the user determines, the video game revolves around mechanics that the COM determines.

Konami can and should change how the game works; but sadly, they won't, PES11 is a clear indication of their intentions.

You just have to enjoy PES11 for what it is to you, and if you can't enjoy it, you should stop buying PES games; there's little point in spending so much cash on something you don't enjoy.
