Auto Line-Up

I've never actually tried this feature in any other pro evo before so im not really sure how its properly supposed to work but...

Using this seems to put the best players in each position based on form/ability and a mix of the two.

Using this with Liverpool, i used the Ability Line-Up and it put Gerrard at left midfield! and hes actually better there than at attacking midfield apparently! :shocking: How is this the case?

Similar thing with Barcelona, use the Ability Line-Up and it puts Puyol at right back when im pretty sure he's the best in central defence....

its baffling me

Well he does play there for England sometimes, and he plays amazing. If you look on his stats it tells you the positions he can play in, maybe it just puts them in the random ones that they can play in?

Yea i would think it puts them in more at random. I know Gerrard can play left mid and he has done for England a couple of times and played alright there but in no way is he better there than in his natural position at attacking mid! Especially when Riera is naturally a left mid with good ability in the game.

It just seems awkward to me...

simple settings has always been like that. it's pretty good, but not the absolute best. i always edit a few of the players if i use it.

Yea for a player i would think its kind of useless!

The point that im now making is that when the AI uses a starting line-up against you in ML, they are likely to start players in the wrong position game after game just because their stats say so and they dont have the common knowledge to edit it themselves :(

So playing against Barcelona in ML, be sure to see Puyol in the RB position and someone like Marquez in CB

why wouldnt you see marquez at CB its where he plays and is awesome. as for Puyol RB is his natural position and its where he started his career so he is prolly set to RB as his primary position in game, i dont know. however he was the most average looking right back in the world and when he moved to CB he became good so even so it is still wrong for PES to put him there but he most certainly has that position in his history.

Ive only ever used auto line up on demos. in game it will also go by the form arrow and fatigue in a ML game so sometimes it would put say Ramsey in above Fabregas if Fabregas had played the last 3 or 4 games because his fatigue bar would be higher.

Its not that Marquez isnt a CB coz he is, its just that they will put him there instead of Puyol who is clearly their best CB along with Pique, Marquez is clearly rubbish now compared to them both. And Dani Alves would quite clearly be the choice for RB as he is one of the worlds best arguably. Just weird AI decision making.

Its like Liverpool putting Carragher at RB coz he has played there before in his history and starting Agger and Kyrgiakos every game as the main back line up....

One of the absolute coolest features in pes is the many ways of creating the formation, so personally i've never ever used auto-line up and has no intention to do so..

This used to do my head in too! I played Man U in ML and their players were all over the place. Ferdinand was at RB and Brown was CB with Gary Neville?????

What I usually do before ML is edit the players positions to better reflect real life. I also change which side they can play on (L or R) so that bizarre Auto selection is minimised.

Why don't you just look before the match starts? You're going to anyway regarding their fatigue, form etc..

We arent talking about me and you changing the players before a match...

We are talking about the team you play against that the AI control!

But anyway yea im going to need to do that aswell, go to kind of drastic measures and take Puyol and Ferdinands RB position out completely so they cant play there!
Then if i ever want them to play there myself, i can just put them there (tho i know i wont) :D
