BaL-World Footballer of the Year

Just wanted to know how do they pick the World Footballer of the Year.
Are they based on the amount of goals or assists you make?
Or are they based on your rating in that current season or your whole career?
Was just wondering how do I get that award that I have trying to get for the past 7 seasons.

i've not won world footballer of the year yet but it does it on how well you've played across all tournaments you've been in. so if there is a major international tournament on as well as your team being in the champ league and league and cup, you've got a better chance. i've only made the world and european team of the year so far but did manage a cheeky LA LIGA MVP i lead the assist ranking and was about 6th in the goal rankings.

I did it in my 6th season

In my 6th season i play for manchester united...we just win european league..and that year i also went on to win world cup with italy...i am also the top scorer in that tournament...

After the world cup in the new season i received european player of the year award and after that world player of the year award...Its kind of cool because in the game they show the 3d video ceremony of you receiving the award...

I have won the European footballer 4 times in a row now and world 3 times, the first time i won Euro i thought i was odds on to get world footballer but for some reason Fabregas won it, he was at Blackburn they didn't play in europe didn't do well in the league and they didn't win a cup so i was very surprised how he could win world footballer anyone else had this happen?

im still confused how they pick the world player of the year. I play for Man Utd and i managed to score 53 goals last season. Finished top scorer and top assister in the league. Also finished top scorer in the european championship. We won the league but lost in semifinal of the european championship. I was pretty sure i was gonna win the World player of the year considering what i had done during the season. I won the european footballer of the year but for some reason mascherano won the world player of the year. IDK what i gotta do to win it.
