Beating the goalie with 'Long Bridge'

And they said it couldn't be done

Have just scored this earlier tonight. It's a "Long Bridge" (don't know what else to call it) done round the goalie and finished. - In a match.

It was scored on 5* against Arsenal. Rooney also does a defender quite nicely before hand, but the goal is mainly about producing the Long Bridge touch to slip the ball passed the keeper and running round him.

There are more impressive looking ways of getting the ball passed players/keepers in the game, but anyone who knows the move and has tried it will know how annoying it can be. Am posting this up 'cos it's the first time i've got one round the goalie without being fouled or had the ball just nipped away from me. Plus i've not seen one in anyones compilations or any single goals which have been posted up here. So hope you can appreciate it atleast, even if you think it looks dull.

Stream it here from putfile:

*NOTE: The video quality of both the hi-res and lo-res files is extremely poor in the first two angles/clips. This is mainly down to the fact i'm using the oldest digital camera in the world to capture the footage. (yes, even worse than the one that broke the other week). All of the other angles after the second clip are alot closer meaning less blurred. All of them are MORE than viewable, just make sure you watch em in the original resolution size and don't try and stretch the media player window. If you know what i mean.
Though i'd recommend downloading the larger version.

EDIT: Another video i had previously of 'Long Bridges' being done round defenders. The ones in this vid are better examples of the move, but none of them ended in a goal like the one i posted up did. Plus the one on the original thread went round the goalie. But anyways, good examples of 'Long Bridge' how it's meant to be used:

Yeah its a tough move but I thought you would knock it round one way and run the other way type thing

Yeh, thats the ideal outcome of the move. Was explaining it to someone a minute ago, will copy n paste when approached with the same thing:

"I find the best way to make it run round opposite side is to leave it quite late. The later you leave it and also the angle the defender is coming in on you decides which side the player will run. If the defender has come deep from your players right and stuck his foot in across your body, you player is likely to knock it to the left and run round the back(right) of the defender. But any other timing/situation i've found they will run the same was as the ball."

So yeh it's about timing methinks for getting it to go one side and running the other. With the one round the goalie i was just hammering the buttons to make him do it atall i wasn't concerned too much with the timing aspects. But if i were say a split second later, it would probably popped it one way, and ran round the other. Personally i was just quite happy to see it knock round the goalie, and for my player not to get fouled.

There are actually other ways of doing the move. (different button combinations - maybe that could decide which way it goes) but i find that you can do this move alternate ways. i don't recall what the combinations were, but you can definately use different methods.
