Bhatti's Cool Aid - The Gameplay

I'm a PES guy. Edited my Game in everyway, even created Kits and posted here. Talked my friends into buying it. So I am not a "let me give PES a try" person. Yet every single year around this time when I have maxed out my capacity to add a league and move teams around and for some reason grown tired of the stale presentation or "and More and More and More and More" Commentary, I turn to FIFA. I held out until Black Friday. I will say this time I just did it to spite Adam Bhatti (#Bhattiout) who I hate with a passion for his "I'm cooler than you" attitude and the fact that I'm convinced he let his Girlfriend pick the soundtrack (Your Love is Like A Symphony, really?!?)

I discovered something that would kill PES unfortunately. I hate to say it, but with a few slider tweaks (yeah, there's sliders) which took a lot shorter amount of time than adding the Premier League, I was able to play a GREAT, interesting, SIM of Soccer. All the while with presentation, boots, graphics and commentary that didn't make me want to kill myself. Sure the keepers don't have the variety of save animations or the goal variety that PES is famous for but after watching some of the goals from the Prem and around the world this week I'm not so sure FIFA is that far off.

I would be glad to share these settings. Before you say piss off and go play FIFA the sad truth is the that we love PES, but we have drunk Bhatti's cool aid on the game play. Paid for awards in Japanese Yen. That last patch was embarrassingly half-baked. Really the fouls are all fixed now?

FIFA played like a sim, has work to do but I paid for something that I got to play and enjoy without having to rely on a GREAT Community of people to work magic, not the people getting my money who think they are above it now.

Feel free to contact me if you would like the settings. I will be back PES and I hope you will be too.

In the meantime #Bhattiout

Haha, I do the exact same thing every year. Excitedly play and edit PES until around November time, then get bored and buy FIFA. I enjoy mixing it up to be honest, either one would get boring if playing exclusively for the whole year. I know I'll probably be playing PES again more than FIFA by the near release date of 2019's versions.

I hear you friend. Every year I say I am finished with PES and I still buy it. OF gives it nice touch, but presentation still sucks. Gameplay is little better after last patch, but still a lot of issues. AI tackling is still calculated with some fouls, no fouls in the box (no penalties), and the thing that strikes me the most - no injuries of any kind!? Also heel fest passing needs to stop. PES can be very good so I am not sure what is holding KONAMI back.

I feel like the basics are there with PES, but all the cool stuff that gets added to give the game longevity is done by the community. 20 new faces and 4 boots every 2 months doesn't cut it, It's not enough to keep you going. Playing FIFA with some slightly tweaked settings and dynamic camera (a little closer up) since Black Friday and the game is getting better with every update. Long story short, Adam Bhatti's constant standard "Gameplay is King" interview spiel plays over and over like a broken record. If FIFA had more goal variety, better goalie animations, and any kind of Creation/Edit mode, PES would truly be dead.

Side note - the generic player faces, 5 years later...still embarrassing.

Agree. If EA allowed to add kits to unlicensed teams I would probably switch. KONAMI shits on loyal fans every year. Promises, promises, empty promises.

I have been trying to get PES players to switch to Fifa for over 10 yrs now. Just to give it a try. I am getting older and do not have the time to modify PES as I used to and although the game LOOKS better.....the improvements have been stymied by Konami.

Online Servers should not be an issue for any gaming company these days. They make it look soooo hard.

Realism in Fifa has some ways to go ....but they are keeping their fingers on the pulse of football ...eager to create simplistic features that mirror what on the pitch today.

Take 7min and look at this.

PES gameplay and graphics are better than FIFA, but the issue is FIFA is not far behind and could beat PES in terms of graphics and gameplay next year. On the other hand PES is focusing mainly on the gameplay..every year they claim that they give the same excuses for focusing on the gameplay. The gameplay is improving, but they are far behind FIFA in other departments.

Just take a look at the menus, they change how it looks every year and claim it is improved and present it as a new feature but it still not as good as FIFA. There are actually issues with PES gameplay that have been going on since PS2 days. For example, how sometimes the player that supposed to receive the ball keeps guarding it until it goes out. Adam claimed two years ago it was fixed..!!
When it comes to master league... the new transfer system isn't much improvement than last year.... I don't know why Adam is making a big deal about cut scenes in the master league. Honestly he make a huge deal about everything in a way that hurts the game. Konami should keep him far away from communicating with customers. He doesn't get it and probably never will.

One last thing... EA could produce the worst game but still get people to buy it. They know how to approach people and how to market their product. PES people are somewhat amateurs in this field.

I got bored of PES after i wasted so much time editing. Bought Rugby Challenge 3. I dont know anything about rugby so its fun.
