Blast from the past

I've been a long term PES player since ISS deluxe days. Since the next gen version of the games my love for PES has dwindled, they've never managed to get it right. I'm not ashamed to say FIfa has been a far better alternative. Yet I've still always bought PES hoping for that sparkle to come back.

Anyway, the other day I dug out my laptop and twiddled my thumbs. Sometimes with the mrs home it's not always easy to turn the Xbox on, so laptop being laptop I installed PES 6. Thought yes it's old but my laptop can run it nice and I've nothing better.

Despite it being nearly 7 years old, it's not horrific graphically. But my word the gameplay is head and shoulders better than any of the recent PES instalments. I had been playing PES 13 for the last month or so but cannot get into it. PES 6 despite looking older and a little quicker than modern day games, makes PES 13 look 7 years old. The passing, shooting, and movement is far far better. For me, it sums up just how bad PES has got.

The master league is a breath of fresh air, immersive yet simple. Menus and player stats are simple to read.

I'd give it a go. It's only when you reload it do you wonder how a game 7 years old can play better than modern iterations. Shameful

Its an absolute joke the game hasn't truly pushed on and in many ways went backwards. How did Konami simply fail to adapt to Next Gen console?

I'll never get over PES2008, WTF! I think Konami realized they had a core fanbase(like me) who would buy the game no matter what and hence just stopped really bothering. In fairness PES 2013 did bring at least a bit of respectability back.

I never converted to FIFA but 2014 will be the year I decide between the two.

The major reason why PS2 games were a hit was because of Shingo Seabass! But his involvement has been ceasing ever since ps3 was released....his name wasn't even mentioned in the edge article regarding pes 14 ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

The truth is that Seabass owns Kei masuda.

If you read the article in the latest issue of Edge magazine you will see that Konami were not fully prepared for the next gen (hence the constant catch up) Just my opinion but PES2013 has a lot of things that are much better than PES 6, & this is coming from someone who only switched to PS3 for PES 2010. So basically I played PES 6 for 3 years as PES 2008 & 2009 on PS2 were PES 6 with updated squads with some game modes either added/removed.

I don't think we will see the same problems when PES moves from the PS3/Xbox360 to the PS4/Xbox?, but only time will tell

Yes I read the article about how they were working with a dated ps2 engine on the ps3 makes of PES till date but I don't think that was the problem with the game the problem is with the thinking of Konami's technical staff..PES8,9 were ok PES10 was great ,PES11 was fun with some flaws(Seabass was involved with all these titles) .Problem starts here on in Post PES2011 with too easy passing ,speed merchant,through balls and other minor irregularities.
