A common occurance is VIRGIN MEDIA 10mb.

Virgin have terrible speeds on their 10mb service as there are too many people on the network.

If you check the virginmedia website there is a forum where hundreds have the same problem on 10mb.

I bet if you do speedtests around the time you are trying to play you get barely 2mb.

I have recently upgraded to 50meg. Its coming on 1st dec, I got free installation (£50) so went for it.

Massive problems with virgin, they seem to throttle people when online gaming which affects PES extremely badly.

Ive heard this mentioned before but it begs the question why doesnt it affect any other games online?? If I were to ring Virgin - what do you guess will be the 1st question? is everything else ok? the answer of course is yes?

Apart from the port forwarding, and open dns advice.

If you're not that technically savvy try downloading Advanced system care - on your pc from

best of all it's free, and there's a few extra things to help with your PC.

And once you get it installed...try going to utilities -> Internet Booster. Just put in your max broadband speed and it will do the rest. Reboot your PC, and startup your PS3 I'm not saying it's a cure all - but it may help online gaming a little...

BTW...I have Virgin broadband as well 20M - nightmare!!!

ok guys let me tell its nothing to do with your or anyone elses connection its just konami with their stupiud ways, stop beating around the bush ur gonna blame 3 years of lag on other peoples connections come on guys wake up. howcome i can play my friend who lives in france on any game with no lag, cod mw2, cod 4, fight night, fifa, but when i play against him on pes there is this stupid button lag. ITZ KONAMI 3 YEARS OF SH*T

I opened the TCP and UDP ports that you suggested and the results have been brilliant! (I didn't open the HTTP and HTTPS ones because I couldn't find the option on my router)

I can finally play PES online! WOOO!

My rating had slipped to 400 because I got lag on every single match I played. Since I changed the settings I have only had one match with a bit of lag and I have played A LOT of games! Now I've got my rating up to 450.

Everyone who is suffering lag problems should try this!

If you go into the system settings on the PS3, it gives you an option of changing the port? Anyone know if this could in some way be an advantage?
