Can't change free-kick taker!?!?

Perhaps somehow my game got bugged or I'm doing something wrong, but I cant seem to change the free-kick taker when I'm IN-GAME...
So if I get a free kick, and instead of the default kick-taker, I want to choose someone else from the list. Usually I knew how to change it (Left trigger, then left analogue thumbstick I believe...) but lately I cant get it to work!? Am I doing something wrong here!?!?

Can't you press pause and select 'Select Kicker' from the list?

yeah that works, but I believe origianlly I could also select the kicker in another way!? plus how would pressing start work when you have the FK taken by TWO players (one lasy ot off for the other to blast?!?

When that happens you have no choice but to shoot like that because its an indirect free kick. The computer will give them to you when your 18m out sometimes and its a bitch!! Never heard of the other way, try looking through the command list when you pause the game and it might be on there.
