Card system?

Ok, firstly have the cards replaced the special abilities? if so, why would i want to turn them off, is there a reason? like in real life i wouldnt tell gerrard to take bad long shots and not look for space so why would i in the game, is there a benefit to it?

I think this feature was on one video... I can't remember though... And I still haven't got the point of turning any cards off.

i created huth and gave him a defensive one so i think they are like the old special abilities.

carvalho for example has extra attacker card so if left on and your winning late on he will still go forward as an extra man.

I think alonso has long passing hich can be turned off, but i dunno why, hes good at it so why take it off.... the carvalho one ^^^ makes sense but i could just stick another player upfront if i wanted... i think the whole system is a bit stupid if thats all there is to it...

I think the card system is interesting but in Master League mode, you can only train for skill cards that give a certain skill. These cannot be turned on/off.

Playing style cards can be turned on and off and it seems that some players have them, most do not.

Is it possible to obtain playing style cards?

^Me too. In ml you can train the players in order to get special abilities.

its simple!

i thought this at first... its actually a great little system because it STOPS you from being able to have lazy strikers chase back like Rooney, or be a box to box workaholic like Kuyt etc...

Basically, if Gerrard can shoot from distance, that is an ability card and CANNOT be switched on or off. Its jusy something he can do, when you're controlling him or when he's playing against you. Simple, just like the old star system.

Then there are tactical cards, like a guy who plays a certain way... trys to beat the offside trap, overlaps on the flanks etc... these are tactical options that replace the arrows etc... in the formation setup.

Like I said, its great because you can't ask someone to do something they wouldn't/can't do in real life. These and these tactical options alone are what can be turned on or off, depending on whether you've asked the player to be attacking/defending etc...

I think majority are only useful to yourself if you play on manual or fixed cursor. Very useful though when they're in the com's hands cuz Gerrard will shoot like Gerrard, Xabi will pass like Xabi, etc. so I'm glad they're in the game.

Here are some that do make a difference in your hands when turned off:

Overlapping Run (to protect a lead)
Fox in the Box
Goal Poacher
Anchor Man (for more attacking options)
Deep Cover (for more attacking options)
Enforcer (if booked)
Extra Attacker (protect lead)
Free Roaming
