Close Control is crucial

Cant be arsed going into depth about this but I am starting to realise how crucial close control is, I used to think it was just a silly animation that helped the odd time and differed little to just running without sprint. One thing that infuriates me about this game is the cpu barging you off the ball, using close control stops this especially for players with body balance of 70 or higher. I have played this game non stop now for 2 weeks and I am learning new things all the time(the mark of a great pes game) I am also learning the scripting has been taken to a new height:realmad: but the vast myriad of controls in this game at least give you the scope to overcome it. I think in many ways this game is underrated due to the controls taking so long to master in certain areas, there are so many subtleties its just such a shame konami manage to balls up player switching.

I noticed close control is very effective, adds a lot to the gameplay when you master it. As for scripting, yes, I notice it especially on shots.

When playing on XBOX i have switched sprint to RT, close control happens when I use RB, check your command list in game to confirm. Pretty sure its RB for xbox no matter what configuration you have.

Yeah, I switched the shoot to B, and sprint to RT, it resembels FIFA gameplay in my eyes.

I do very well with tricks, but I'm not being very successful with close control. Could someone upload a video and show us how it's done?

When the player dribbles with the ball very close to his feet. Messi does this a lot in real life.

Oh so its just something the player does automatically?

No you hold RT to use it. If you're someone who uses RT for sprint then RB will be close-control.

Go to command list and it will tell you what button it is no matter how you have rearranged your buttons.

Yes, very important. I use it a lot when I recieve a pass too, since it puts your player into the proper direction and they recieve the pass optimally as opposed to having to make a few slow movements to get into position.

Agree about the depth, too. I win consistently, both online and off, but I think it will take months for me to really be good at the game. So much to learn, epscially with the new trick system.

Favourite current move is using only the close control button, you turn the opposite direction, so from left to right you're not facing left, then press the direction 135 degrees and the player does a very quick turn animation.

You can also use close control to dribble precisely on the wings, cutting in, etc. Really very effective and well executed by Konami. Oh yes, and using close control to cause your player to do a sidestep is also very effective. This and the move mentioned above is all part of the sideways dribble and associated moves.

This is something I have noticed more and more, makes a big difference as your player doesn't just bundle into the ball. Standing tackling is also more effective when you use close control in contrast to just sprinting into the player which decreases your chances of gaining possession

Anyone else having any more success with what I mentioned in the first post, Personally I am loving it, so effective in many different situations such as getting away from and holding off defenders, dribbling and sharp turns are also much more enjoyable. The ball doesn't bounce off my players like they are made of concrete anymore.

Yeah I'm just getting the hang of it now after playing it loads over the last few days. It really does help wwith keeping the ball when you have a defender at your back.

My problem is dribbling online, I'm terrible at it in this game, my passing game gets me by but I would like to be better with dribbling so that I have more options

Try sharp turn with the analog whilst holding the control button, with good players you will be hard to tackle, close control will work differently depending on the player. Also use it in tandem with sprint, good for building momentum. Once you nail dribbling mate the game gets even better.
