Come on guys learn the game!!!

I've been reading across these forums and others and the amount of complaints that the game is TOO HARD is staggering. Last year people complained that the game was too easy, now I'm not KONAMI's biggest fan after their previous next gen disappointments, but this year they have given you a range of 6 DIFFICULTIES and still people complain that's it too hard.

Try this guys, if you're getting stuffed at one particular level, drop down a notch!! It's not fkin rocket science. I'm not ashamed to say, but this year it's the first footy game for like ever that I've had to drop down to even Regular to perfect that. Then when I was comfortable you move to professional etc...

How are people saying that it's too hard then, what people can't win on novice or beginner or whatever the hell it is??

I feel this is symptomatic of the 'me me me now now now' generation, if you can't pick up and play the game within five minutes the toys come out of the pram. I played the demos to death, and I'm currently playing the retail to death. For people on about FIFA this and FIFA that I more or less perfected a way to play inside a day. ONLY NOW AM I COMFORTABLE WITH PES after caning it every day of my life for like two or three months!!!!

What do you guys want like?

Bear in mind that a game is released and you have year with it, and people expect to just nail it inside a week...you should be grateful it is this difficult!

To all the moaners, it simply must be you doing something wrong or not playing it like a football game, you must have got your defensive unit pressing and jockeying all to whack and you must be tackling left, right and centre. I'm up to Superstar mode, for me it's the best mode in the game. There are little or no cheats, you have to wait for your openings but likewise the CPU will be devastating to any tactical blunders. For me on the PC, I use Jenkey's patch to have harder shots and with the ball more weighted. I also use speed at around 87 or so, don't know what that is on the old gamespeed slider but for me, now, the game is near enough to perfection with my scoreboard, kits and grounds together with the gameplay alterations.

I agree with some of the moaners that Top Player is an excuse for the AI to cheat, but it's simple enough to get round, learn to play on Superstar.

I mean fk me guys, what do you all want? Do you want for the CPU to just lay down with it's ass in the air?!? The beauty of this years game is that there are no easy avenues to exploit, on professional and even Top Player the CPU would let the wings be exploited for easy crosses, in Superstar that doesn't happen unless you work the space. Likewise there is no one repetitive thing fits the CPU, the CPU will vary it's attacks.

Honestly, I sometimes think people just like to slam KONAMI for anything, this year you have the aforementioned 6 game difficulties, gamespeed alterations, camera angles, and if you're lucky enough to have a PC a whole range of other customisable things. Then they make the game harder that you literally have to play a trillion games to get good at (isn't that the point of a new game?!?) and then the moaners come out that they can't beat Man City 4-0 anymore.

The football you can play on this is absolutely brilliant. I use a combination of possession play and long balls to Carroll. If I feel that the CPU is stifling the game against a lesser team, then it's up to Carroll time. Combined with the lovely control of Suarez these two are dynamite together. Then if I'm sitting on a lead, I'll bring Kuyt on for his backtracking runs and work rate....it's all there peeps, don't even begin to tell me that FIFA offers this amount of thought and depth to each individual player, I can stick Reina up front and he'll score like fkin Pele.

Think of it this way instead of looking at the negatives, when I used to get trounced by Bayern when Robben and Robbery were causing havoc and winning 4-0 I could have just said this game sucks and pouted. I took that as what AM I DOING WRONG, why are these two players causing me headaches every game, and I learned (albeit slowly) that once I played a certain system against them with certain players in my team I could restrict their carnage to a minimum and also free up Eto for the counter attacks (this was in the demo). Aren't people grateful for that type of intricacy in a game. I remember having lots of trouble against Rangers because their long ball game would cause carnage for my CB's, but then I tried a DMF right in front of them to pick up the second ball and suddenly their tactic was nullified. I also couldn't break them down in defence because they were deep....well guess what I switched one of my strikers for a midfielder and dropped my CF who was all the way up right down to the furthest he would go, this had the effect of drawing their players out of defence and they would be more prone to the one two through ball. ALL THIS JUST FROM THE DEMOS!!

Man what are people smoking these days, I'd doing alright in my ML, but I'm no PES god. Yesterday Arsenal mullarised me, 4-1, their football was astounding, but it was my own fault, I allowed myself to be dominated by their midfield three against my midfield two in hindsight I should have played an extra DMF against them and looked to counter them. But isn't this what football is about? One week Arsenal can go to Man Utd and beat them 2-1, then the next they lose to Stoke or Wolves or something two nil?? It's about constantly adapting to opposition tactics. For me this years game is already providing more depth than I wished for, I just think people need to give it time, and lots of it to appreciate it. Over and out.

Agree 100%

I dont want a game where all you do is hammer a ball down the pitch to your fast unmarked striker, then get to the same angles as in all previous games and score the same goal as in previous games.

I dont want a game where the depth of tatics is just choose a formation, A beats B, B beats C, C beats A.

I dont want a game where you'll only buy a player because he's faster.

So thank you Konami for this great, albiet flawed football game.

I agree with what your saying. I play on professional and im struggling like fuck tbh. Thought i had it cracked and then lost 3 in a row in ML. Then to make it worse i thought id try to get some form going with Argentina. I played "Saudi Arabia" And lost 4-0 fuk me i was gutted but thing is i enjoyed the games. Don't want to really drop down a level but who knows. Il see what tonight brings, Could be completely different again. Usually is me out of position with defenders what causes my failures or giving the ball away in a fucking silly manor!

Play top player or superstar level. The cpu always scores from freekicks just outside the box like 95% of the time.

Untill they fix the sprint bug I'll just continue playing online.

This was pissing me off too, but use manual keeper to shift him more centrally. I had Van der Vaart score three consecutive free kicks against me one game. I think it's LT(or B) and R3 to take manual control otherwise you're pretty much feked.

yeah but i was playing professional and i was beating a team 1-0. in the last 10 mins he caught the ball from a corner and i kept on pressing pass to start a counter. Instead of him throwing it to me, he throws it to an opposition player who just taps it in the open net. Things like these make the game impossible to win

First of all - GREAT post Techboy11. Really enjoyed reading it. And yes, i simply don't get the complaining over difficulties either. In game features i can understand, but no way there's a reason to complain over difficulties since they can be changed back and forth as we like, and forthermore you can just select a better team like barce or real, and the game is suddenly easier. -

Sniper - about these free kicks. Try placing a tall defender on the goal line (know it's damn hard and very much based on luck who you control when the cpu has a free kick) But it seems to work if he's like 195 cm tall, for me at least.
IF you get free kicks just outside the box, you can put it under the wall using O button (if you're on ps3) scoring every time :) Pes always has this bug until a patch fixes it.

Excellent Post. I've been saying on various threads that people never are satisfied. Game is just amazing! I hope they keep the level for next PES coming. Superstar mode is just hard as fuck!

superstar is GREEEAAAT! No cheating atlast/ i had a 0-0 draw and although it is har, it is easy to keep the ball around inmidfield but hard to create chance so i always control a second player/ it is useful on assisted as they run forward losing track of their marker and i just through ball it from etorri. It has less cheats than professional

i just beat man u 2 1 in my 3rd master league game, i was 1 0 up and the scored on 82 minutes then in injury time they get a corner and there keeper is up and it breaks away and defoe has free run at goal and taps it in lol

but the shootin is doing my head in. the cp had a tame shot go under my keeper at 1 mile. its so stupid why would they make this shooting like so floaty.

and another thing i cant stand is that awful sound when your talkin to the chairman and the coach

starting to get the hang of it in top player but the games usually end up like 1-1 or 0-0...i rarely win 3-0

I am doing alright defensively but scoring is a big problem...when you attack the Ai has like 8 players behind the ball.

Played a game as Real Betis against Stoke...Jones scored two headers and i was two goals down at half time.

I scored a goal straight after half time then AI changes to all defend, i could hardly get behind them....the game finished 2-1

Have to agree with OP

ML starts you off with some horrid, downright terrible players.. borderline retards. That comes on top of the sometimes steep learning curve that comes with all PES games. It gets frustrating but also very rewarding

Ive been doing ok, but after almost 2 seasons of ML i just remembered (after reading this site) that you can control players off the ball with right stick... i mean, i had heard about that feature but totally forgot it. Now im stuck at work itching to get home and try it ><

imo this years game has so much depth & its a real challenge, I love it and still have so much to learn

Just had a brilliant game Liverpool (me) 1-1 Chelsea, 15 mins, Superstar, Assists on 2 bar (for superstar I feel works best, no assists for all other modes) and -2 game speed.

I had about 8(5) shots and Chelsea had 12(6), possession was 53-47% to me. In many ways, to the outsider at least this may seen like a nothing game and there wasn't many dramatic moments and the scoreline was low. BUT MAN WHAT A GAME OF SIMULATION FOOTBALL!!!!

I went one nil up and you could just feel throughout the game that Chelsea were always the slightly better team, more match winners, but I had great graft and defence in this one. Opted for 4-3-3 as previously I had been dominated in midfield against them with Lucas and my new lad (lol can't remember his name, but he's a DMF, with enforcer card, Zikora maybe!??!), and with Adam providing my midfield creativity. Up front I opted for Carroll, with Suarez and Henderson either side of him. Henderson in a CMF role though and Suarez with SS. Their defence was rock solid, but a lovely whipped corner from Adam saw a neat Suarez flick volley after around 7/8 minutes of pressure from me, one nil at half time.

I had been exceptional in defence, dropping back with my forward, covering angles and space with my work horse DMFs and being generally excellent with my defenders. But a lovely little midfield move on the halfway line just opened up my shape slightly, I made the tackle but panicked with Adam who gave it straight to Torres who drew my other DMF before giving it to Anelka, I tried to jockey but I found myself short of numbers for Chelsea to hit the equaliser, my ONLY lapse of concentration and a silly mis-placed pass which took half my team out of the game.

Okay so it wasn't a cracker, but these games make me smile a lot more than the 5-4 games etc, when you play a top team and you see their movement and for the best part you cover the avenues and work your arse off the game really opens up. BECAUSE of the way I defended from front to back, I forced Chelsea into making a lot of back passes and sideways passes, it was one of my best and most accomplished defensive displays to date, normally Chelsea are rampant, only a few days ago they went 4-0 up inside thirty minutes. But I got my shit together for this game!

Now this is my main point, if I can get this amped over a seemingly drab 1-1 affair then the game MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT. I reckon it was the most complete game of football I've had since playing all the games for two months, it was pure simulation football. Carroll was in Terry's pocket all game, Torres and Mata were the main threats for them looking dangerous every time they got the ball, Anelka again had to be watched his languid slow style but solid to knock off the ball. My best chance of goals was from set plays and Downing who took on the right back successfully two or three times with whipped crosses.

Man, that game was sooo good. With five minutes left on the clock you're literally almost quivering as Chelsea mount another surge that all your good work could be undone. This is the depth of PES this year, I'm thinking about it all day, every day, I've been dying for the transfer window so I could get another DMF to play alongside Lucas who stays put in front of the back four. I have been dying to get some quality height at the back to which I've brought in. Doni is coming on nicely and will surely replace Reina at the end of the season, and I've brought Shizu (I think) in from the youth an exciting pacy winger.

It's not bashing FIFA time, but I couldn't really care about all this in FIFA, I've hardly ever made a transfer or cared about tactics so much.

I'm also noticing much much more now how my players play. Buy that I mean before my new DMF signing I was playing Gerrard sometimes in the DMF role, but because of his style of play he would often still look to join attacks and generally get forward, by having two holding DMF,s of the style I want, they are rock solid stay in front of the back four players. Even if I trigger a one two run, they don't bomb forward, they run a bit then hold then go back, it's just the little things like that.
