Commentary Problem

I'm not sure if anyone can help me out here, but I thought I'd give it try.

My copy of PES 2010 runs great, and I don't have any problems with it except for one nagging issue.

Despite the Commentary Frequency being set on Standard and on Name, the commentators barely say a word all game. They only say a couple of sentences at the beginning of the game, and if someone scores. Not once do they say any of the players' names. Is this some kind of problem with my CD, or is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance

Man don't bother with comments, it's innacurate bullshit on many occasions. "That must have shave the top of the bar" followed by "He's balooned it to the stands". Turn this crap off.

I'm sure its better to have bad commentary rather than silence. And in answer to your question, I don't know, sorry.

There seems to be a problem with Sound Settings in PES. I like the commentary turned off but if you select 'No' for commentary it makes no difference you have to turn the slider down to zero. Not a problem but why have the 'Yes'/'No' option in the first place? So it doesn't suprise me that the OP is having problems, I think it's just a fault with the game.

Personally I'd rather have ambient sound (crowds, whistles, etc.) than bad commentary. When I go to a match there isn't a commentator. If I have to watch a match on ITV then I turn the sound down so that I don't end up chucking my TV out of the window because of the inane warblings of Tyldesley or Drury. :)

Norway's national TV channel (NRK) usually have a journalist strike on their hands when there's a World Cup coming up. They send the matches without commentaries, and you know what? It's better to watch without some guy yapping along with the game.

They should have stayed with the radio tbh, we don't need someone to tell us what we are looking at.

PS. motrekab, ambient isn't much of a pleasure in pes2010 though... you barely hear a sound when the away team scores...

What I have noticed is that when you pass the ball around, the commentators don't say anything...

So if you attack and play offensive, there will be more commentry :)

Bad commentary is definitely better than silence. What I'd like most is to hear players' names when I pass to them.

I have all the updates, installed the game to my HD and have Rosh's Option File (if that makes any difference.) I tried uninstalling the game and deleting all game data too, but it was useless too. Is there no one else who has this problem, or any idea how to solve it?

P.S. I appreciate those who have taken the time to post in my first thread...thanks!

It happens often mate. Just seems to be a bug because you aren't the first to complain about this sort of thing. I guess you either have a bugged version or you may need to reset the game a few times. You also have to check and see if the players have commentary names.

I think it all depends on the flow of the game. Maybe a quick flow game might make him silent most of the time, while a slow flow game might give him the chance to elaborate and commentate ... Again i'm not sure about this but try checking it out ..

No the only time he says anything is at the beginning and end of a game, and rarely when someone shoots. I've compared this to my friend's copy of the game, where he is much more talkative, so I know that there must be some kind of problem with my copy. I guess I'm the only one with this problem, so my hopes of solving it must be pretty slim.

The worst thing is that I didn't buy the game myself...it was a present, meaning that I have no way of returning the defective copy and getting a bug-free version.

Are you talking about the PS3 version? If so, if any other the above members who replied have the PS3 version, i can't believe they haven't noticed the lack of named commentary. The ONLY time the crap commentators mention players names is when they have a shot on goal, and that's it. I don't think the 360 suffers with this problem. Why they decided to leave out players names is beyond me and every other PS3 fan.

YES! This is exactly my problem. However, a friend of mine who has bought the game at a later date than me (also on PS3) has much better commentary, with the commentator saying the player's name each time the ball is passed to him - as it should be.

Maybe Konami fixed this commentary bug after having already released the first batch of games, and never bothered to release a patch to fix it for those who bought their games early?

Man, this is so lame on Konami's part. Granted the commentary is pretty ordinary to begin with but for the PS3 US version to not have any during open play because one is using a Standard definition TV is pathetic. Check thread: http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=74443&highlight=commentry

I spent a whole day searching for a copy in 42 degree heat in Hyderabad, India and finally found a US version in a tiny PC computer arcade and paid through the nose for it. All that effort because I wanted to play the World Cup and FIFA's international team selection is quite limited.

But what an uninspiring version 2010 is. I've been playing football games since ISS (actually earlier with FootballChamp) and this version is quite pathetic on the back of all the developments FIFA has made. I built a PC just so I could use patches made by the great PES community and enjoyed the tinkering etc but this year will be the first where I'm not going to bother with the archaic version that is PES2010.

Can someone confirm that they have used the same PS3 disk on a SD TV and HD TV and have had commentary differences?

Get your shit together SeaBass and stop producing these lame versions of what used to be the self titled "Football King" of virtual football.

Yes.

When I connected to a HDTV via HDMI, I was surprised to hear player names being spoken for every pass and extra comments, after being used to hearing sparse commentary for so long on my old standard tv's rgb-scart. Same console, same game disc, just a different connector. It's very annoying.
