You got a max drive ? We are on about PS2 ?

If you have move the files to the Max drive then format your card using the square button and the right option whilst the Max Drive disk is in your PS2. Then move your files back one by one and hopefully it should be ok

ah i don't have a max drive, it was all manual editing!!! The closest i have is the older version of my save which i copied to me cousins memory card...but even then, there's alot of work to do

Perhaps move the files to a second memory card one by one and see if you can get the option file to work

I always have copies of my option files and saves of every kind of game, 'cause it may wreck or be accidentaly erased, so this way I never loose my saves.

Lesson of the day: Buy a Max Drive and backup your memory card files in case of random corruptions.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday by coincidence. And after some searching on the net apparantley the memory card is nerfed and I've gotta buy a new one. Thankfully I have a max drive, so it's only gonna cost me the £15, I feel for you Papa Lazarou :(

Unfortunately for you, you're definitely going to be left without your saved games. But your Memory Card is not dead and buried yet. :no:

I've had this happen to me once before aswell around 3-4 years back.

I remember that my Memory Card corrupted after my electricity cut out during a game save. :(

I did 3 things to recover the Memory Card:

1. Delete everything on the Memory Card;
2. Once everythings been deleted, remove the Memory Card from the Memory Card slot on the front of the PS2;
3. Then put it back in - the Memory Card should now be usable again.

Let me know how it goes.

Ah. I have a similar memory card related fuck-up thats been puzzling me. I have a card that has been corrupted by a max-drive option file transfer. The swine. Anyway, i can no longer save anything else to the card even though its only half-full. Stuff will load from it thankfully. However, when i look at the contents of the card in the max-drive software, or on the PS2 start-up screen its showing up as being empty.

I'll try Ko_nami's helpful advice above, but its not looking good.

I also forgot to mention that corrupt Memory Cards can come about from loose connections aswell.

So basically, I'm saying that you should make sure that your Memory Card is in the Memory Card port properly otherwise that could also lead to read and write problems. Sometimes all it needs is a gentle push because when you leave it in all day (like I do), slight movements can make it undetectable. Even during a game save. :shocking:

I've rammed the fucker in until breaking point, I think I better just buy a new one before all my hair falls out, although I am ginger so that might not be such a bad thing

Keep on ramming, then;)

I think the cause of my problems was when the console 'froze' during a save. Not much you can do when that happens.

I got all rammed out, so I bought a new card, then uncrushed the wags (or whatever it's called) option file onto the new card and it did the same. The pes file on the new memory card is corrupt and can't be deleted, so I can't save a new option file but I can save other games on there. I think my max drive must be fucked :(

£10 for a max drive saves all the hassle of going back and redoing everything when your MC becomes corrupt. It'll be the wisest 10 quid you'll spend on a PS2 accessary.

But you can't buy Max Drives in the shops. :no:

The best and worst £10 pound i ever spent.

Not content with corrupting one of my memory cards, Max Drive has just corrupted my other one for good measure. Needless to say, i'm pretty fucked off at the moment as Sony in their wisdom didn't include a card-formatting facility on the PS2, and theres only a couple of products out there that can do it (further expense). If only it was as simple as the method Ko-nami suggested.

I wouldn't blame the max drive itself for corrupting the memory card - but at least you can format the cards using the max drive.
