To run your game in a different resolution, you can add "-w -h " to the command line used when your game starts. Right-click on the ConditionZero shortcut on the desktop, select "Properties", and select "Shortcut" to enter the command line parameters.
For example: "C:/Valve/ConditionZero/czero.exe" -w 1024 -h 768
To run your game using a different video mode, you can add "-soft" to start in Software mode, "-gl" to start in OpenGL mode, or "-d3d" to start in Direct3D mode.
Once your game is running successfully, you can remove these settings.

You won't solve the problem if you dont edit the register (it's in there). The monitor resolution when the game starts it's not a problem of config.cfg or autoexec.cfg (they contol other kind of properties of the game).
You have to get into the register (be careful about that) by executing START/EXECUTE/regedit

You have to modify the atributes in hkey_current_user/valve/.../video:
Screen width
Screen height
into the default ones and it works!!!!!!!:p

Right-click --> Properties --> Configurations --> Advanced
In one of the tabs should be the name of your graphics card. Post the name and we'll tell you if its good enough.
