Creating a Free Kick style!

Idea - Creating a Free Kick style!

This is written in points just to make it easier to explain.

WHY?
Because I think this game will definitley use some more depth in it and I think many players will enjoy it. In real life, theres nothing more beautiful than a well placed Drogba free kick to the corner, or a balistic bomb coming out of Alex's right foot, directly to the top 90, or doing it yourself at the local football field.
Just like instead of putting some face presets and letting us choose from them, they made the face edit mode very detailed- just like what I won't free kicks to be in the game.

WHERE?
In edit player mode, under 'motions'>'free kick'- you'd have the option to choose from an exsiting preset (1,2,3 etc), or create your own free kick style.
Also, when choosing the set piece taker, you can press square (or something) and then select from the presets that are in the game/ you've created.

HOW?
1. When selecting 'create your own', you'll first have to name your style ('close range', 'long range' etc).

2. Choose the length of the run up:
It will be calculated in meters or in steps. For example- Roberto Carlos runs about 10 meters from the ball, Riquelme runs about 2 meters.

3. Choose the style of the run up- this changes the running up motion. For example- Robeto Carlos takes quick steps at the beggining, Ronaldo sort of hops on his toes.

4. Choose the angle of the run up:
Adjust the angle of the run up related to the ball. For example- Alex takes them straight infront of the ball, Beckham and Ronaldinho take them from the line of the ball. The angels will be matched to the player's stronger foot.

5. Optional - Contact point between the ball and the boot:
Select contact point on the ball, and another one on the boot, this will be chosen by moving the contact point point around a picture of a ball and a boot (in the edit mode). For example- hitting the ball with the instep creates an inward swerve, hitting the ball on it's top half will create a dip etc.

6. Free kick attributes:
The same as BAL attributes- you'll have 8 points to spread on the following (max 6 on each attribute):
-Swerve (spin/ curl/ however you call it)- will effect the inside swerve of the ball.
-Power- focusing on this will create a driven shot with.
-Dip (top spin)- this will make the ball go up and then directly dip downwards.
-Knuckle- will make the ball move to different directions in mid air (I know there's a button for knuckling, but this will just add).

7. Long/ short range:
select wether this style appear in short range free kicks, long range, or both.

HOW DOES THIS HELP?
If you want to set you long range free kicker so that his kicks will have the maximum power they can have, or that the short range free kicker would be able to dip the ball over the wall.
Also, this is amazingly fun (in my head atleast).

VISUALISTATIONS:
-A free kick taken from about 6 meters (the run up), coming from the right of the ball, striking the middle-left of the ball, front-right of the boot, focusing on power and mostly on swerve:

-A free kick taken from about 10 meters, coming directly infront of the ball, striking the top-right of the ball, front-left of the boot, focusing on swerve and on power:

-A free kick taken from about 7 meters, slightly from the left of the ball, striking the top part of the ball, inside part of the boot, focusing on knuckle and mostly on dip:

I know this is very detailed and hard to program into the game, but that's just how I love my free kicks...

Critique this idea assuming Konami has all the knowlege and resources to make this system.

Some of the ideas can be thrown out immediatly, and some can be kept and implemented to the game. Maybe even the whole idea can go on the game- you name it.

It is happening again
Good suggestions, adding more creativity is never a bad thing. Would be especially good when creating your BAL player. Would love to be able to do free kicks like this:

Another thing that would be good, was if you could alter the run up of your free kick in game, using the right stick say, whilst still keeping the same style.

Doing all that in edit mode may be a wee bit advanced for current gen, but I like where you are goin. I think in the WWE games you can create finishing moves, and I know for a fact you could create taunts in the ps2 games. So maybe creating unique celebrations is the next step along?

I think it would be great to create your own free kick style, something I've always fancied doing. I hope Konami take all these good points on board, and show us they can do something, rather than sit about on their arses.
