Crossing without Direction

I've been playing this game for over six months now, and I thought the crossing this year was totally bulloxed, then, last night I tried something new. Instead of pressing up, or back or at a diagonal while crossing, I just pushed the cross button with no direction. Lo and behold, it seems to work much better.

Is this something new for this year, or something I've been missing out on for a long time? I find that using just the button with no direction is much more effective, so far anyway (need to test more to be sure).

In previous years I never had to do this, since crossing was more effective with a direction chosen as well. Now, in 2009, pressing up almost always overhits it past everyone, and other directions come up short more often than not.

Ha Ha. Maybe I just suck at crossing then!

Players I'm crossing with don't have great long pass accuracy or long pass speed, so that might be problem too.

And remember that if you cross while your player is running, you won't have much precision.

Probably when you release your control, your player stops running/walking a little enough to improve the precision.

Another thing that improves the crossing is when the player faces the target.

And don't forget to press R2 just after crossing. The player who will receive the ball takes a better position (if it's possible).

I always try to make the player advance the ball before he crosses. I almost never cross while standing or looking forward. Crossing is a very important part of my game because Vieri is my 9.

I only cross while running. If you stand still or run slowly, the cross will come up short. But I'll try the :R2: thing.

Hello,

I think manual is still the best( controller option )
In this way, you can control the power if you have time.
When you are pressured, you can also choose to play an assisted cross with L1 plus Cross Button :)
