I use the analogue stick.

I used to use the D-Pad in PES2 but switched to the analogue just prior to PES3 and have used it since. I find it a lot easier to do what I want with it.

I am very suprise Zygalski will actually use thumb stick! :p I thought only non-pro player like myself will use it.

Well that was confusing....
It's very easy to play using the D-pad and takes a bit more practice and effort to learn how to play using the analogue stick for everything in the match. You make it sound backwards. Weird.

Is this turning into mods vs everyone in here? :D

i use analogue, easier for turning quickly, bad side after a while the stick loses grip so you have to get used to using D pad again.

i always use Dpad for freekicks and corners, so much easier that way for me

I don't know. I play all PS2 game with thumb stick. I never try to use D-pad on any other games. I wanna give D-pad a try, but I will definitly not try it on my tournament matches! :D

D-Pad, im an old fashion gamer. i dont do too well with joystick or analog stick. i will wear my thumb down if i have to to do a certain move. but WE8 is easy with the D-Pad, its very smooth and fluent.

I use D-pad on PS2. The reason is as few people alrady mentioned. Stick is too lose and loses a grip. That is a problem with PS2 pad. You don't really have the feeling how much you have pressed it, and it becomes "slippery". After I tried PES4 on Xbox controler, it is MUCH tighter control with stick.
So solution is, D-Pad for PS2, Stick for Xbox.

I use the D-Pad eversince the very first WE97.. and i think tht the D-Pad gives more positive control.. While the analog have abit of freeplay and is a lil bit slugish..

the game isnt analogue as far as dribbling goes, so use the Dpad. i use analogue sticks for additional tricks and penalties thats all !!!

D-pad for me... It gives me way more control over the players while in the game. But free-kicks and corners I take with the stick, somehow I can curl the ball way better with the stick. So when I am going to buy PES4 on my X-box I am hoping that I can config the controller set-up... But on the other hand, the control stick on the X-box controller feels better to me than the PS2 control stick does....

Me too!You can curl more easily in dead spots like corners and free-kicks!

There are adaptors that can transform the PS2 controller into A XBOX one!

Yes I know, maybe that's what I'm going to do. Funny, the stick on the X-box is better than the one on the PS2, but the D-pad on the PS2 is better than the one on the X-box controller. But anyways, eventually I will learn to play PES4 on the X-box no matter what controller I have.

D-pad .
***Reasons: the finger is more "linked" with the controler allowing you a better co-ordination, better control and more speed.
Also the entire hand is also more confortable by using the D-pad by making it an extension from your finger thus grabing the controler with more security.

***Conclusions:
99% of the time you need to control the directional action, and with the D-pad you make less mistakes .
Is the best way for a good dribblin.
More control and easier way to use L1 and L2 buttomsat the same time that D-pad.
It gives you more capabylity to use R3 for manual pass.

In brief : To stop playing bad ...star usin the Directional pad!
Cos with the left stick ....your gameplay will stil look ill!! :p
