I wonder i there is any serious soccer player in this planet that enjoyes playing FIFA games from EAsports. In my opinion FIFA soccers are not football sims but football arcades. In FIFA 2006 i think goalkeepers will carry lasershotguns to prevent strikers from scoring inside box.In my opinion PES for PSX-PS2 and PC are the best soccer games and then are the ISS series for SNES.It is crime to compare any PES with any FIFA soccer game!I prefer to play Supersidekicks Soccer at Mame32 than playing a FIFA game.If EA sports didnt have the licences, would be nothing. If i have mistakes in my opinion tell me a good reason to buy a FIFA game????????????

LOL FIFA IS SOOO SHIT(EXCUSE MY FRENCH).The worst is fifa 2004 i shot from the half way liine and it curled in and that was with kanu omg its a joke and i look at some players that arnt that populer and they dont have the slittest likelyness they just focus on the big stars. The only thing they have over pro evo is licenses.

I love the PES series, but you gotta give it to FIFA too. They do certain things better. Besides the graphics sounds and licensing advantage, there are little things in gameplay of fifa that I like better in 2005. Last year I wouldn't believe that I would say this but it is true. FIFA has done a better job with 2005 than their older titles. I'd still prefer the master league to FIFA anyways but it would be nice to have the auto runs that fifa has with L1, even though PES AI is better, a lot better in general, it's annoying when your offence sits and watches you when they could have made a run into open space. And don't tell me about arrows and stuff, i want them to stick to the system but I should still be able to ask them to make a run when needed. And the manual pass is hard to perform with the right analog, FIFA has better controls in that sense. other than that, PES rocks.

Fifa has some decent aspects tho which have all been stated :

License's
Awesome Commentry
Better online setup (Probably because evos was rushed)

But overall fifa has been poor since it came off the megadrive

about the auto-run.... i dont know the same button is on the pc version, as i dont have it... but r2 on ps2 makes your players run.

I read that in one of the threads (R2 run), i don't know if it's cos I have the PC version but they don't seem to make any runs with R2. I may try it on PS2, meaning I'll have to wait another 6 weeks. Damn US.

id rather play sensible soccer on sega than any fifa game

Sensible Soccer WAS great, wasn't it?

The last FIFA game I was in awe of was RTWC 98. That being said, FIFA 2005 is a step in the right direction, but it's a baby step. Konami's the football experience for adults.

Yeah RTWC was only good for one thing, indoor football. pro would be even more awesome if it had that option. schweet

well said strikergoal. I am a soccer fan too, and unfortunately a soccer fan now, since it's hard to use the term football in the US. I would never think i'd rather call it soccer than football, but this country makes you do it :)

I agree that FIFA is still fun even though PES is a lot more realistic. FIFA is a different game when played against friends, it's a puzzle, you keep having to come up with a counter plan to what's going on. It's more of a puzzle solving than performing realistic moves.

Fifa in general is shit (especially that piece of crap 2002, out of the ones ive played) but fifa 2005 is a step in the right direction i think although i have only played the demo.
But tbh, i dont believe pes/we could be described as a sim either. For a start they need to sort out the curling which you still cant control, and even the automatic curl isnt accurate.

Firstly, I'm a serious football fan (it tends to be Americans who insist on using the term 'soccer'). Yes, I'm aware of the origin of the word, but I'm talking about the present day.

Anyway, have you even played FIFA 2005?! It's quite a good game actually, and there's room for different approaches to simulating football. For realism, I prefer PES4; but for outright fun, I love to play FIFA 2005. As for licences, PES4 can be easily patched with Kitserver/the Wolf patch- and the resulting kits etc look great! Many aspects of FIFA 2005 should be commended, such as Player Runs, and Off The Ball (when used properly). Okay, it is far more arcade-like than PES4, but it is still highly enjoyable. Come on, there's much more to it than Football Champ (90's arcade game). What's wrong with having fun? So what if it isn't a realistic representation of football! I'm glad that the two games are totally different.

FIFA 2005 is a great game for it's 'pick up and play' qualities- you can have so much fun playing against friends. PES4 is far more 'involved', and takes ages to learn how to play effectively. PES games are highly frustrating for the beginner, whereas FIFA is much more 'user-friendly'. FIFA 2004 was a complete joke, and think EA have just tweaked the passing in the 2005 version really. It's a much better game now, but EA are a bunch of lazy b******s when all's said and done. FIFA 2005 is what the 2004 version should have been.

My prefered game is PES4, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying FIFA 2005...

Realistic fun= PES4
Adrenaline-based fun= FIFA2005

Ok strikergoal i prefer saying football than soccer too!I am not american i am european.I come from Greece!!!But i must tell you that i said soccer cause the original title is PESoccer. If KONAMI release it as PEFootball i'll be glad to say it Football. There are also guys from USA in the forum so..I dont have any problem with anyone in the forum. And listen this.I played FIFA2005 versus my friend and we finished 5-4,4-3,6-3!!!!,2-4 on 6 minutes mode.In PES3 on 10 minutes we finshed 1-0,2-1,2-2,3-1,3-2,0-1.Which is more realistic???

E.P.Sorry about my english guys!!!!

It's still known as FIFA Soccer in the US. European prints are football but the US copy is still sold as FIFA Soccer 2005. Since they can't call it football, it makes sense.

I think FIFA is more for kids than real footbal fans. They have beautifull menus great music many clubs but when it comes to gameplay those cool thinks just can`t make it better. FIFA sucks. I play it every year and every year i´m more and more pissed and dissapointed. So many expectations but than we get a stupid arcade game for kids.

Hey I still feel like a kid at 31, I play FIFA and have fun when it's multiplayer. Multiplayer is a whole different thing. I wouldn't waste a minute on FIFA by myself but multiplayer anything is fun. On the other hand, I spend crazy amounts of time on PES master league. But I don't think i'll ever spend the same total amount of time i've spent on sensible soccer on any game ever, it's probably impossible.

I used to love Kick Off 2 (Commodore Amiga- back in 1990). The more I play PES4, the more I can see how 'one-dimensional' FIFA 2005 is. As I wrote before, I really enjoy playing FIFA 2005 online, as it really gets the adrenaline running!

Well, after playing eight league matches tonight against the PC (3 stars)- I won 6, and drew 2- in most games I scored 2 goals! I'm getting there, and can finally see why people keep writing that FIFA is for kids! There's just so much more depth to PES 4, and FIFA is just so scripted and basic in comparison!! I find that I can beat the PC pretty easily on 'World Class', at FIFA 2005- not good!

Anyway, some football games that I've enjoyed:- Kick Off 2; FIFA '94; World Cup '98; Actua Soccer 2; FIFA 2001; FIFA 2003; FIFA 2005... and the creme da la creme- Pro Evolution Soccer 4!!!!!!

Ok thats good.some football games i liked were:SuperSidekicks Soccer series and Virtual Striker for coin-op,InternationalSuperstarSoccer and ISSDeluxe for Snes,Kick off 2 and Football generation!!!A quite preety game for PC by Ubisoft, all PES series for PC and PSX.Also liked ISS for N64 and FIFA 96 & 97 for Snes!

Sensible Soccer is the best football game ever. It's a true classic, Pro Evo is the closest thing to it mind.

The best thing about Sensible was the cult teams, like the rockstar, celebrity chef and tv cop elevens. If konami did some stupid stuff like that it'd be cool!!!
