Hi guys, during my time as a member of this forum I have made many friends and have grown to the idea that pes is better than fifa. I own fifa 08 and and dont think that its too bad, but I dont own any pes games. The plan always was to purchase pes 09 (super demo) but unfortunately im experiencing a serious cash flow problem! It dosnt take a fanboy to stand up and say fifa 09 also looks super!

So I need you to help me with my decision making.
Should I:
1. PLAY FIFA 08 FOR ANOTHER YEAR AND BE REALLY BLOWN AWAY BY EITHER PES/FIFA 2010?

2. Wait till christmas and get pes?

3. or wait till christmas and get fifa 09?

You must be thinkin- where the hell did no.3 come out of! Well all year I've been telling myself that the only thing that really matters is gameplay, but my god just watch this vid and tell me that dosnt look shiny and spectacular. My future is in your hands, and pleaseno fanboy responses!

I played Fifa 08 last year( which was a great game) but am purchasing Pes 2009 this season, as i feel it is better graphically than Fifa as well as in terms of gameplay.
Personally i'd choose Pes 2009 and would buy it at Christmas!!!

Also what platform you on?

I'm gonna try FIFA in a couple of days, but if it's anything like that video you just posted, I'm sticking with PES....

This is, of course, just my humble opinion, but i got FIFA 09 and was instantly struck by how good it was. I was so happy with it and have been playing it for hours since it came out....BUT........

The more i have played it over the last few days, the more apparent it becomes that this is still the same ol' FIFA gameplay unfortunately...
Don't get me wrong, it's not at all bad, it still plays a good game, to a degree. But there's just something about it...the more you play it....

The way the shooting is never satisfying...the way the ( admittedly BEAUTIFUL ) animations cause everything to be that fraction of a second too slow, the way crosses seem so ineffective and the ball seems to still have it's set animation instead of it being a seperate entity. It can seem very balloony, if you get my meaning? It's suddenly all becoming a bit frustrating!

Don't get me wrong, this is without doubt the best FIFA game i have ever played, but in terms of satisying gameplay it's nowhere near PES 6 ( or even 5 for the majority of PES hardcore fans ). I would advise you rent FIFA 09 before you buy it and playtest it to death until the rental period runs out and then make your descision.

I can only speak for myself, but i immediately got sucked into the awesome graphics and wonderful presentation at first and everything seemed to run brilliantly ( games in the snow are lovely to look at when using the Broadcast camera ). There is so much about FIFA09 that is great, like all the online stuff, the very sensible refereeing, the many many leagues and clubs ( hooray for all the english tiers included!) But it really has ended up being really unsiatisfying right now. I dunno, maybe it'll improve because i am not used to the shift in gameplay mechanics and after some more playing it will finally click ( i hope so ), but coming from a Konami footy background all the way back to the SNES, it's a real hard shift to make over to FIFA.

I think at the end of it, we should be happy that this year we have 2 great choices to make and why not buy both if you can, but again in my know nothing opinion PES may well be the far more satisfying game this year in the end.

FIFA 2009 is excellent. They've made shooting 1o1 chances a little easier. I don't think there is much systematic about the crossing.

Rather than getting opinions when PES 2009 isn't even released, why not wait until its released and people have had a chance to compare the full PES 2009 game to the full FIFA 2009 game?

I personally could not bare playing another year on FIFA 2008. After playing FIFA 2009, FIFA 2008 seems shit.

The only things I miss from PES are:
1. Shooting
2. Team Managment - ease of seeing your players stats and comparing
3. Players stats converted onto the pitch - the fact every player seems very different: dribbling is easier to be seen, crosses/cross speed is very evident etc.
4. Master League

Sadly for FIFA, these things are very important to me. However, PES has its own bag of problems (according to the DEMO) which will have to be fixed.

This year we're blessed with 2 great footy games. What ever game you get - im sure youll be pleased. Both FIFA 09 and from what we've seen from the Pes 09 demo look great.

I'm sure in a couple of weeks after each games release im sure you'll see second hand copies available. Thats another thought.

Both are great yes, but I think that pes plays better and feels more realistic this year unlike last year.

Im sure once the full game has been been released we will see a lot more positive comments for PES 09 as everyone is judging the game by the demo whereas the FIFA game is out now & i have to say looks nice but i think PES will still nick it on the gameplay front & the way it feels.
In my opinion mate i'd just stick with what ur used to just now, wait a few weeks & see what everyone makes of PES once it's fully released & then get whatever game u feel would appeal to u best, but personally i still think PES is the game to play.
