defender and ratings problem

I can never seem to get my defenders to get a decent rating (mostly 5.5's and 6s) and never seem to be able to get them to attack during a corner or a free kick...
help?
i cant seem to get my Goalies to get a decent rating either always 5.5,6 and 6.5s mostly 6s and 5.5s

I'm finding that really frustrating as well, it seems that the ratings system only rewards scoring goals ad getting assists, which is fine for the strikers and midfielders, but really its only reflecting half of football.

Cos its equally important not to concede goals as it is to score them.

I usually get 7's and 7,5's for my defenders and goalies. And my defenders come up at corners once in a while.

Defenders and goalies only get good ratings if they dont conceed goals and you can get one of your central defenders (i think it automatically chooses the tallest one) to come up for corners if you make the attacking mentallity to the highest (red bar on one of the bottom corners) by holding L2 and tapping R1

You have to get your defenders more involved with your build up play, particularly your left and right backs.

Your centre-backs can get good performances if they defend well throughout the 90 minutes. They have to press hard throughout the game and they have to put their head and foot in if and when required.

Centre backs can't make a single mistake throughout the entire 90 minutes. Just the one mistake can ruin their overall performance and you will see this effect their end of match rating.

I could say the same for keepers as well.

well..i tried using sergio ramos @ cb and he was so active that i was able to get him running near the flanks...he got a 7. but still no defender in area during corners
