Defending in PES 6

I really love this game. But is it just me or did defending became so frickin' tough in this game???

In pes 5 I was the master of the defence. Almost nobody broke thru my defence. Now in this game, everybody easy gets passed the defenders or is it just me? I find this really difficult to defend your goal area. I also happen to see that pressing x when near an attacker isn't just enough. The ball scrambles thru and the attacker still has the ball. This defending in pes 6 is getting really annoying...

Anyone has tips or tricks how to defend properly in pes 6???

I agree with you on this one. It does seem a LOT more difficult to stop an opponent's attack but there is a way around it as always.
What i learned from playing it over the past few days is if you launch yourself at the right moment you'll get contact with the ball and slide it away from their feet. So really its all about timing.

Yeh its tough at first, but i think i'm starting to get the hang of it. Its really tough when defending against players such as Rooney or Henry. You just have to go in at them hard and your right, its all about timing.

Mate your absoloutely right, It's piss easy to take on players in the box and my mate who was shit at scoring on PES5 we now have goal fest matchs.

think in the new version not pulling defenders out of possition and sheperding danger men into areas where they cant cause harm is just as important as getting stuck in though i did this against rooney for most of a match but for just one second he got away and scored bloody realism ;-)

R2 is used for locking onto attackers, usually when they're running through midfield or on the wing. It is really helpful for blocking crosses. You can use it in combination with X really well in this game.

Never heard of using R2 to defend before

How does it work exactly??

hoild unto R2 and look at your defender,,,he "faces up" his opponent.....almost like he locks unto the opponent.

best used when you anticipate a move.....before the move happens or when somone is slow dribbling againt you....just hold unto the R2 to make sure you always have him in your sights. you could nick the ball away by just holding R2 but it is actually better to have a good combination of R2 and X. R2 to lock then while holding R2, press X when you thin you can anticiapte the move or change in direction happening.

let go of R2 if the player doesnt dribble into you but instaed gives you an opening to capitalise on his mistakes. this will cause the X function to suddenly surge you towards the player.

timing is EVERYTHIING

and as luis ronaldo says. because it locks unto the oppsoing player with the ball it does help to block shots

Welcome back...
Very good tip this. My defence is usually quality but I was suffering from the odd weird occurence of my players running out of position. Since I started using R2 and at times square I am conceding far less. Thanks for the tip.
