Defending Ronaldo/Messi Runs.

I'm new to the forums. I hold R1 + X when with a Midfielder or Striker but when I have a defender on the ball, the Ronaldo's and Rooney type players leave me for dead. The Tevez twirl is devastating when used against me are there any tips you guys could advise....

Also is there anyway of defending when your shoulder to shoulder with Rooney? he has too much POWER.

best thing to do is not pressure em, but hold the back line for as long as you can and then all they can do is either go wide, or turn back and pass it about. the minute you start pressureing them they will just run straight through and be on goal. tbh it would be best if you cut em off in midfield, i know it aint always easy but it will save your defence being embarrassed lol

Don't hold X or anything. Pay attention to other players making runs and block any possible pass route. Just hold off and don't follow the direction in which he goes, if you get me. Most people go right but intend to go left, etc.

Surely I'm not the only one who uses R2 for defence? If you hold R2, your player will hold back and go into a sort of "stay back" mode (hard to describe). This works great for people obsessed with running at you, if you back off they will usually try to pass it around you, or try to run outside you which allows you to get that perfect slide tackle in.

I do the same, this is good advise... it has worked well for me since pes5.

it's called jockeying and it works great offline
online and your players feet are stuck in quick sand
here's hoping the patch sorts it out
