Direct free kicks

I scored a free kick taken by ronaldo. It took a bit of a deflection off a defender and went in. Ronaldo was credited for the goal. Does this still count as a direct free kick?

direct free kick = can score goal

indirect free kick = cannot score goal without touching a teammate

If you score a goal off a free kick, then by law it has to be direct

Indirect free kicks that are own goals are taken as corners. Kicks that are "on target" but as still deflected still count as a shot and not an own goal, therefore in your case the ball deflects off a defender is still on target and is counted as a direct shot. You can't score a direct shot on indirect free kicks.

Your kick is therefore a direct kick

Hah! funny enough in my new ML with created team York City FC who are about to be Promoted to the Premier League... We Scored a Screaming Goal From a free Kick roughly the 80th Minute

Near the Edge of the Box right in front... Bale did a Dummy Run over the Ball and then My BAL player that i saved to created players Scored straight in the Top Left

Went over the Walls Head and Dipped into the Top Corner.. "Screamer!!" we Won 1 - 0 against Liverpool In the Semi FA Cup Final !

With practice, free kicks aren't very hard.

So I switched my style up, and I now take almost all free kicks from all ranges as power shots directly at goal (away from wall). Using the knuckleball shot this can be fun and effective (especially online)
