does heading have to be so difficult?

@liverpool, pressure plays a big factor in reality and may change direction in some cases, but in pes 09 the direction especially when defending is more random than in reality. In pes 5 and 6 this was better and pressure did play a part and changed the direction aswell but in pes 09 it was random (when defending) as it forced a corner all the time (sort of).
That's what need to improve.

to me it's not that difficult
I play using Chelsea (you know Drogba , Ballack ...)

Look I never said that with some players its easier to score with them but I saying that the problem is with direction of headers when scoring from difficult positions and also defensive headers... I have scored with really short players like wright-philips! so I am not saying its impossible but that is straight infront of the goal unmarked... I am talking about harder situations than that! Just watch the videos...

Heading is actually really easy but there's a trick to it. The trick is to not hold a direction and just let the player's stats decide. If you hold a direction you'll cause the player to be off balance. I tested a whole season holding direction and Vidic scored 2 headers and CR7 1. Completed another seasn and didn't hold direction even once, Vidic scored 7 headers, CR7 4+. Even my crappy 17 year old 178cm BAL with 60 ish heading scored 4 headers in debut season.

Crossing and shooting is same thing, hold nothing. Hold up/down for a far post cross sometimes when you want to hit a winger but holding nothing will do the trick most of the times. Same for volleys, 1 timers, and even tap ins.

i dnt agree wit u

i think that achieving a successfull header on PES09 is quiet fair to do now. i have been scoring number of goals now scored by a header. you might just need to master the correct technique and use players which are good at heading on PES

-make sure ur 1st to the ball
-get over the ball to make sure the ball dnt go over the bar (you achieve this by jumping early)
-for more accurate headers which are mostly positioned down to the bottom corners hold the shooting button for longer and release it BEFORE the ball touches the player's head
-for more powerful headers just hold the shooting button all the way through but still remember to do this early to get to the ball first

enjoy

Ok, I will start with the first quote here. This is helpful info but not really solving the problem that was stated in the initial post... you can't guarentee that your first to the ball and jumping to challenge for a header isn't as easy as it is in real life. How many times have goals been scored when a player has had to come up and beat defenders in the air and from being well marked! So being first to the ball shouldn't mean that is the only way to score. Now getting over the ball is also a game of chance. You can be in the right position and think that you have made good contact but the game decides to direct your header over the bar or wide or worse!
Now the second post. This isn't helpful either. What you saying is just leave it down to pot luck to score... that isn't how it should be. Now, as I have said before ever header won't result in a goal but you should actually be able to control where your putting the goal. Sometimes shooting across goal would be better than just shooting straigh ahead or maybe there is a tricky angle you can see that would score. Now, you should be able to go for that instead of being dictacted to by the computer and what it thinks you can go for. Now, if you miss thats your fault or a good save but at least you can say that is down to you and not some preprogrammed shot!
So, what I am saying is that you need to have actual control over the header or shot etc.. so that way what you do on the game pad is what happens with your player. Look at this headed goal by anton ferdinand... now he is a huge melly of players and the computer would probably muck this up and put the ball where it might miss the goal or get saved but if you actually had control over the player you would be able to score and put the ball where it can't be reached.

liverpoolsco, if you've ever played in real life you can't control the direction of the ball every single time. Sometimes you want it to go right it goes middle or left or up. For me Konami captures this beautifully. There's a reason why players have stats. Myself and just about everyone else have no problem choosing the directions of headers and shots I don't know what you're on about. Does it mean it'll go in that direction everytime? No but the higher the stats the more often it does.

I score so many headers just like the video you posted nothing special. The nice ones are the bouncing ones or the fade away into bottom corner which yes you can choose to pull them off if you want to but its much more effective to let the computer decide. If you have total control over headers what's the point of having the positioning special ability or any of the other stats that effect headers?

Go back and read what I have said in this thread. I haven't said that every time you head the ball you should score or anything like that. I know that heading the ball is a skill and I apreciate that I am just saying that for those players who can head the ball well its still a bit of a lottery on direct. I play plenty of real football and know what its like heading the ball and how you need to aim properly. Now, what I am saying is the aim needs to be improved so that if your aiming at a point in the net then thats where your shot is going to go if you make a good connection. Make it more about you getting a good connection on the ball and skill of getting up first in the air and being in the right position in the box to land your head on the ball more than it being a lottery of where the ball will go. Hopefully that clears things up a bit more for you...

Look at vidic he scores because he gets good contact on the ball and can direct the ball where he wants. Now the other skills are still relevent about positioning in the box etc. Even some players who are not excellent headers of the ball can score from a header if they can direct the ball properly. You can't have a chance of doing that in PES as it is now as it would just send the ball off instead at least trying to hit the target. I am not saying they would score every time but at least put it in the right direction if they make good contact.
I also am not saying that it shouldn't be possible to scuff headers and put them wide but let that be down to your own bad play not the computer not being responsive!
