It makes a different when u turn off PC. Not only closing MSN helps, but shutting down the PC will improve lag, trust me on this one as i have tested it while playing peeps.

Not everyone can do that though. Some people have to use the Internet Connection Sharing method. I think this is just AOL, however... but good news on that front is that AOL are scrapping the 512k and upgrading everyone to 1MB.

It's impossible for me to get on xbox live with my pc off. Most people say the lag is minimal. Usually. Ask Gunplay.

Yeah it's impossible for me to play with my PC off as well. You can only do that if you have the connection set up to go straight from your wall into your Xbox, which I don't. (I've got two network cards, one taking in my broadband connection and the other going out to my Xbox).

I'm off to Rome for the weekend tomorrow, so I'll have to play the final probably on Monday, when I get back.

Peeps should get an ADSL router. With this you do not require the PC to be on in order to use it. And heh? you only pay for one of these devices once! you dont need to get one again at a later future date. Hence if you would like to connect other devices to the hardware you can to get access to the internet.

No you dont, i have AOL and use a wireless network and i can switch off every pc in the house and it works fine.
