English Style Football

So English style football is using a lot of longballs and such. Do you guys use this kind of strategy when playing with a premiership club? if so, how do you achieve it, what do you do to open up oppurtunities? also, for long balls do you guys usually use an early cross(L1+circle), through pass in the air (L1+triangle), or just a normal long pass (circle)?

I want to learn how to utilize the english style because im playing with arsenal. I've got the whole short passing thing down but i really need to add a different dimension to my attack as all I usually do is use short passes to get near the box and then keep short passing until some space opens up for a shot, but now that i'm trying to step up to 5* games, its been a bit harder to use that strategy as effectively as I did when I was playing on 3 or 4*. any help or advice would be appreciated.

In my experience, long balls have never been a real strong suit for pes itself since you can only hit them in 8 different directions(45 degree incriments). When I use the long ball (long pass type 4 in the button options), I have to figure out what direction I want the ball to fly in, then position my player at a 45 degree angle in relation to the player receiving the pass to make it to him with any accuracy. This is not an easy thing to do and it really has a low success rate. Another thing to try is to use the long pass type 4 to do chip a through ball just over your foward for him to run on to(like a working version of the L1 +triangle). That though, is extremely difficult to do because, for one, you have to make a perfect pass, and two, you have to quickly transition to the receiving player and use super cancel to get him onto the ball. The game WILL NOT run on to that type of long pass for you. Its stupid as hell, but thats the way it is.

So, the long pass type 4 yields manual aiming for the long pass button(circle). L1 + triangle really doesnt work to well unless you have a back passing up to a foward with about 50 yards between them. I have found that then, and only then, does it place the ball close enough to the foward for him to gain control of it.

I am also experimenting with the L1 + triangle function trying to utilize is for little air chips in or near the box. But, so far, its not going to well. Hope all that helps a little. And, if anyone else has a better way, feel free to chime in.

English style is great, especially with ManU. Just like in real life, it takes the pressure off you, and if their team is crap, the ball keeps bouncing back to you  . I don't send in constant bombs, but if there's no one to pass to in midfield then I'll bomb one.

I use all 3 passing types during matches.

In my own half :L1: + :circle: with R. Ferdinand, G. Neville, or Heinze.

In my own half on the sideline :L1: + :triangle:. I prefer holding until it releases on its own, u get smoother and better timed passes.

In their half, :circle: or :L1: + :triangle: hold and aim up/down or towards corners. Remember do not release either :L1: or :triangle:, the pass will release when the time is right.

When using :triangle: passes, either high or low, should never aim forward as it'll just reach the goalie. Always make it diagonal

So you guys think the English game is constant long balls? Lol.

Anyway, L1+triangle for lofted through balls down the flanks for wingers to chase and L1+circle for putting it onto your CF's heads. Use just circle if you want to hit the ball to your strikers to chest and just practice to get used to how much power you need for different ranges.
