I like what Konami have done with the game making it more based on passing and build up but to support that you need to have it running perfectly online.

Exactly! The way i am able to defeat many people offline is due to my precise sense of timing. I cannot play successfuly online as my timing is always off by a little, which makes a big difference.

In online games, the people who do not pass, i.e. those who just run with fast players and take the hardest shot they can, have the advantage over those who try to outsmart their opponent.

That is because they do not require timing for their playing style.

OK so I think i encountered some "scripting" last night!

I was playing Inter vs some guy who used Real. I was up 1-0 and he came down the flank with Ronaldo ( I had managed to stop him every time but this time he got away and took a nice run ).... ofcourse he got to the baseline and crossed .... My defender (Samuel) had perfect position on his attacker (Raul) and I was ready to head the ball out of danger... All of a sudden, Raul pops infront of Samuel and heads it in for a goal.... I thought of this thread right away

A better example would have been if Samuel all of a sudden ran out of the way of the ball to let Raul into the position. Situations like that happen lots as well and they really give me a right old hoot.

It is a sad fact with PES that as soon as you let the ball leave the ground, then you are relying on the AI to back you up otherwise you have no chance of scoring. When you are up against it in ProEvo and the AI is scripting against you, the only way you can make sure of a goal is to keep the ball on the ground and play lots of safe short passes until the chance opens up (and even then you may struggle if the AI really has it in for you). This is why all the 'best' players in the past (those who win tournaments etc) all played to a very similar unimaginative and repetative style. Because to do otherwise, is to place your fate in the hands of whether the AI is favouring you or not.

I would say that this makes PES a shite game but FIFA is no different in this respect (actually FIFA's scripting is worse). The game (both games) can still be very enjoyable so long as they are not taken serioulsy, i.e. dont play them competitively.

Im sorry i disagree with the scripting on PES, ive played against a few mates in unranked and every game has been hard and if either one ov us fcked up it was our own fault

compare it to fifa 10 and PES is a walk in the park, fifa hinders your players making your entire team slow and unresposive while making the opposition team faster and more responsive

Scripting will still be in PES to a certain degree but most ov the time we do not notice it

I know exactly what you're saying, but this year scripting is not as bad. Actually scripting is less visible thus year. Though still there. But as I said, it's not that bad. THOUGH FOOTBALL GAMES CAN NEVER BE PLAYED COMPETITIVELY. Because they use scripting even though this year it's less, scripting is still there so you can't take it seriously when playing online or against friends.

There is definitely scripting in the game but its not as prominent as in say pes 4/5 for example. Its more on the ball than an overall thing like when im running for an open ball my player suddenly slows down and their defender gets the ball. Its not overall like where your 2-0 up and the comp goes and fucks you up and then wins 3-2 out of knowhere.

^5 wasn't like that though. It had less scripting than 4 and 6. But AI cheating was prominent as ever. AI cheating ad scripting are 2 different things. Cheating is when the AI gets a stat boost, gets wins from losses by making their team so much better than yours. While scripting is when the game feels scripted. You can't score, then you reset it and you still can't score. You try negotiations, then you reset the week and it's the same result. That's scripting.

My original point was primarily about online mode and how it feels like I get cheated out of matches. Eto'o being snapped once iv rounded his keeper, blatant penalty yet the full time whistle goes. How can anyone defend that as the AI not cheating?

An example of scripting occurred last night. I was Portsmouth against Brazil. I was 3-0 down at half time but by the 80th min it was 3-3. I mean this guy was all over me in the 1st half with me hardly being able to string 2 passes together, how can I all of a sudden waltz past Lucio and Juan with Kanu so easily? So at 3-3 we were both going for it and he scores a freekick in the 80th min. 85th min and Dindane misses an open goal from 6 yards, putting it way wide :|

Yes it was a rare good game but at the same time you can't help but feel as if the score and layout of the match was determined way before the full time whistle. If I have an open goal and a golden opportunity to get a draw why did it prevent me from doing so? Thinking about it afterwards I'm pretty positive if I had 3 more open goal chances I would have missed all of them. But at the same time after that my players would have probably become unresponsive and I wouldn't have been allowed anymore chances like that.

i hope that in the upcoming PES 11 they change just a few things.
1. the throwins so you could control your offensive guys on the pitch and move them around like you could when you are on defense

2. when you cross the ball that you could control the players in the box freely (maybe this cuold be done with supercancel? )

I think this would add a lot to the game and make it much more exciting and skillful. Instead of hoping the cross goes to your guy in the box you would actually control that player to move where you want him as the ball is heading that way. Ofcourse you would need to be able to control the defensive player in the area as well.... this would create some great battles for position making the game much more intense as well!
