Fifa 08 (ps3) vs Pro 6 (PS2)

I am deadly serious here, Fifa 08 doesnt even compare to the old Pro Evo..

I downloaded a Fifa 08 demo from the US Store (I have access to the US Store from my UK PS3)

It was quite frankly shit.... I know its a demo etc. But it was really poor. The only think I liked was that when the game loads you get to have some shot practice against the computer.... Other then that it is poor.

When playing the game it felt really stiff and I felt I couldnt move freely around the pitch (which i feel is always the case) the game just felt really robotic with not much. And it is VERY slow still.

I then went back to play my Pro 6. And spent the rest of the night on it. Pro 6's pace, etc is amazing. I scored a goal that I have never scored before last week. (The same kinda goal which that guy scored in the Swedish league where he shot with the shooting leg behind the standing leg)

The graphics on the ps3 were obviously better then pro6, but I dont play games for Graphics.

Pro 6 is better then Fifa 08, a poor attempt by EA Sports AGAIN

I mentioned this in another thread.
It is awful.
So slow and unresponsive and you cant even tell who is on the ball. They all look similar somehow.
Even on the PS2 version of Pro you can tell who is on the ball without looking at the name bar.

And after seeing all the faces from PES2008 the Fifa ones looks appauling.
Way too sweaty and not life like at all.

This was actually the first Fifa I have played in about 3 years and it just shows you how amazing Pro really is.

What I have noticed, the detail on Fifa wise is good, if you look closely, and but when you are playing it feels and looks robotic, like you cant even play the game properly. Its hard to word it. I think the presentation is quite good, but the game play and graphics whilst playing are nothing on the new Pro on the ps3

Well guys, not sure if youve persevered with the FIFA demo or not but i have. There has been no bigger PRO EVO fan than me over the last few years but i have to say, given the fact that the fifa demo is very early build and nowhere near the finished verion, with practice, its absolutely superb. Have a look over at EVO WEB and check out some of your contempories comments, hardened PRO EVO fans just like me are open mouthed and amazed by the quality of the gameplay, something i never thought i would ever say about a FIFA. At first i thought, oh god this is crap, play it loads and then admire, tell you what, i played it for a couple of hours the other night, its real football, you have to work hard, the animations and AI are incredible, and thats an early build!!!...after my session, i put my trusty pro evo 6 in and cranked it up, IT WAS SHITE!!! 200 miles an hour, scripted gameplay etc, i NEVER thought i would say that.....guys, give the demo a fair crack...get used to the controls like i have, and then make a decision, we were warned, EA has cought up, old seabass and his boys need something very special this time!!!!

In response to that ^^
No way.

Its way too slow, the way they turn and run as other people have said is robotic.
The animations are awful. Not fluid at all.

How you can say Fifa has caught Pro up from playing this demo is absurd.

are you saying then that the pro evo ive been playing for years has a rwalistic pace??? total bollocks....ive always prefered pro evo cos fifa has been so crap, last years fifa was a warning, it still wasnt as good as pro evo but was an improvement, ive played computer footy games since the 80`s and this fifa demo....given lots of play and patience is totally addictive, yes i will be buying pro evo on ps3....i have a suspision that along with loads of other pro evo die hards, i will be playing more of fifa this year. As i said, hardened pro evo fans are enthusing about this demo. go over and have a read, soime of the guys are old heads at pro evo, fifa haters in fact...even they are impressed, the more you play it, the more it feels like real football. BUT... we are the consumer, we are all free to choose what we stick in our consoles after all.

"but I dont play games for Graphics."
i liked that:)
well graphically from a distance its very good, close up the faces are shiny and have white glare on them, and are sweaty like mentioned.and on cut scenes its laugable and on celebrations everybody seems to be the exact same size.having said that i have played it for about 2hrs all together i think thats a fair crack.id say its better than 07 but not PES6.i do like it a bit but that will change come PES2008.id say you can do some good passing play in it its just too rare,1st touches way toooooo slow and chip through balls have to be done so high up the pitch to make sure they dont treacle to the keeper or for a goal kick.goal keepers arent as impossible as 07 but you seem to score easier from distance than from one on one. the thing that pisses me off the most about it il be barca against say red bull and steaming down the wing with lightning messi or eto'o but you always get caught, hey all seem so slow at running to and crespo looks too black.

having said all that i may buy it to play until PES,then sell it on ebay coz il have no need for it!!!

My girlfriend even said it looks shit compared to the old Pro.

I will be buying Fifa 07, but when Pro comes out I will do a part exchange at game. Simple as, the first thing I done on the demo was run through the defence with Henry and score put the ball top corner with a weak shot past a shit keeper.

You must be very good then, well done, that i would love to have seen, if it really happened.

Very good? I dont think so, I was quite shit at Fifa 08 compared to what I am at Pro. I was quite lucky with the run, but the shot was more appauling. The keeper was terrible, which I have found with most fifa games.

i think the main reason no one liked fifa 08 cause it was too hard for them and they couldn't score and they probably played the demo once and never went back on , all you have to do is just keep playin it and it becomes easier

the most stupid decision by EA was to give you a half of a 2min game, absolute pointless, knocks you outta ya rythme if your stopping and starting and just gets annoying going back to the menu screen.and ive done that too,ran past 2 midfielders with eto'o defence backed off so i hit it,keeps prolly should of got it but i could imagine it beating robbo in real life so.........i didnt realise keepers were ever shite!i was playing with my m8 the other day on 07 and every 1on1 he would oull of an amazing save,i dunno if all strikers are shit or all keepers are great!seems easier to score from distance rather than close up

If you are saying fifa 08 is hard..then I'm sold.
Mind if this was a pro evo demo there would be all sorts of excuses like early build etc.
That said I'm pretty sure its down to personal preference and personally I'll hire Fifa 08 and buy it if it's that good, will be the first time EA gets money from me in 9 years.

i would urge you to at least hire the full game, give it a fair trial not just an hour, the controls take some getting used to, its a real challenging game of football, all this from a die hard pro evo fan....well...at the end of the day i want a decent hard faught game and sadly pro evo is not doing that anymore for me.

That would be the rabona. Only ever scored 1 myself with Maradona on PES5.

the main problem with fifa is the lack of space on the pitch. Passes hardly ever make it through, and for all the new dribble moves you cant really dribble cos there's hardly any room on the pitch. It takes so long to play a pass or do a skill move yu'll likely be tackled before it leaves your foot.

In real football players can dribble past each other without fancy moves, with just a touch of the ball in anotha direction, but in both games this is a problem, its just so bad in fifa 08. Making the game hard doesnt make it better. fifa 07 was better. Iheard a dude on a blog saying he played 3 hours before scoring like it was a good thing! the demo is 4 minutes long! alarm bell should be ringin!

I went thru hell to get the fifa demo for the 360 from the australian
store and it wasnt worth it at all. From what i've seen if PES can recapture the subtle dribbling of pes2 it'll be way ahead of fifa.I think thats what'll make PES either better than FIFA or a great game.

This kind of makes me want to try it out. Whenever a new PES is released, everybody moans that it's been ruined and that it's way too slow and they can't do anything. I am wondering how many people gave the Fifa demo an honest shot? Games like this have a high learning curve.

The slowness I find attractive; the current pro evo is still a tad too fast.
