Considering i have played both games (fifa 2006 - ps2 (full version))
Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - ps2 (beta version(full but subject to changes))

I promise you that PES5 will dissapoint you, the tackling is far over done, i mean REALLY far over done. Most tackles result in a freekick without pressing buttons, and X (pc) X (ps2) A (xbox) results in almost ALL fouls, some even yellow cards. I shudder to think of what a slide tackle would do ! also i find the control very random, unlike in previous versions, i can run off in certain directions and just leave the controller and watch it do random stuff for about 5 seconds. The opposing players affect you so much that you instantly turn away if you run to close to a player without so much as the idea of a barge.
Fifa on the other hand has had huge improvements, although the game is very much like 05 on the basic level, and that you can only see a slightly tweaked game, its when you try to go complicated you see the revolution, there are more tricks, better 1 touch. Proper one twos cool dummy manouvers, better possibility for long shots, massively improved corners ( although i have to admit its kinda taken the idea off pes (but improved it)) the one thing i think that has got worse (not from 05, but from uefa champions league 2004-2005. PES is still a good game and i only just prefer Fifas new gameplay, all in all they have good points, bad points, and similar points, fifa just murders pes in the longevity though, manager mode and online are massively improved. Rent Both, Decide, Buy. Play Football.

WE8 and PES4 messed fifa up for me. I got Fifa 2k6 but its not as fun to play as WE8 or PES4. Fifa improved alittle but still the game play is not as good as WE8 & PES4. So even with fifa 2k6 I'm stuck playing PES4 until PES5 comes out.

Fifa 06 is a fairly enjoyable game, but it has no depth to it all, just about every goal I score is from a header. And there are basic mistakes such as Mutu and Van Der Meyde being left out of the game for some reason. And the transfers are not even updated to the August 31st transfer window.

Hopefully World Cup 2006 will be much improved, instead of just being a shameless cash-in. I have my doubts though. (This is EA we're talking about here!)

Haven't played Fifa 06 but sounds a bit like 05, go to the wings and cross the ball into the box, 9/10 you're going to score with the head.

Exactly WRONG, headers are piss hard in this years FIFA but very easy in 05

i think that there is much more variation of scoring goals in fifa,it is a big improvement and makes it more rewarding to score goals.Dribbling is still difficult and it is almost impossible to run 10 yards without getting knocked off the ball.I think fifa is still far of the quality of pes but still it's an excellent game and if you stick at it the game can be rewarding.

some of the players in fifa look shit and anyway i think pes has allways had better looking players.
