So, this comes out on Friday (23/2/07), any of you guys getting it, or fans of the series?

Being a massive fan of VII & X, I've decided to pre-order it, hopefully Play.com will deliver ASAP!

:)

Got this badboy on pre-order from Amazon along with the guide. Not expecting delivery until the week following release.

Love Final Fantasy VIII (the first I ever played) and love as much of VII as I've played - and see why people don't like VIII as there are tons of similarities.

<--- Of course I'm getting it. :)

Since VII I've been a fan of Final Fantasy since. My brother just got FFIII and V imported.

Anyway, I'll probably get XII on Wednesday as the same shop my brother got the last 2 said they are getting XII on Wednesday and I think VI Advance on Friday.

Since this game has already been released in The States about a couple of months ago, I've put quite a few hours into it and there are things I like and things I don't like.

First off, the graphics are really nice, cut scenes as well as real time or however you'd call it when you're controlling the characters. The environments look amazing as well.

The thing that bugs me about this game though is the different fighting system. If you guys read any previews on the game, you'll have an idea of what I'm talking about. There's no separate screen for battles, so you fight enemies as you're running around. Also you have these things called gambits that control what actions your characters will take (i.e. attack, cure etc.). Personally, I liked the old style better.

Also, there are some areas where you have to run back and forth in the same area in order to complete an objective. It can get pretty annoying at times.

As for the story, it hasn't really kept my attention like say, FFIX (my favorite one of the series). In fact, I've put the game on hold as I'm trying to get a handle on WEPES 2007.

There's still a lot to enjoy though and it will take you a long time to complete this game.

I've heard alot about the gambit system. It does seem like a lazy way (if they are set up correctly.)

Since it's not quite released over here yet, don't spoil it for us. ;)

Got the game today. I had to wait in the store since the delivery was a bit late. By the time they arrived it was quite packed for a small store. Been playing it for about 2 hours and it has been great. Although because of all the running about, it doesn't seem as if I have done a lot. though the gambit system does seem like a lazy way to fight in the game. Giving my brother a chance to play it since he will barely get another chance in the next few weeks atleast. ;)

Au contraire dude, the gambit system can actually get pretty complicated, especially later in the game when enemies/bosses throw some crazy attacks your way.

You have to figure out which gambits to set up that will keep you alive as well as help you attack, and there are practically a million different combinations you can make.

Well anyway enjoy the game.

Me and my brother are having trouble with some gambits.

My brother had a gambit for Penelo to steal when foes hp is 100% and attack foe that party leader attacks. All Penelo will do is keep trying to steal even when the enemy is almost dead. Another one that has been annoying is the attack foe that party leader attacks. Sometimes your guys will attack others while your attacking by yourself.

Hmm, I'll pop the game in later today when I have some time and take a look at that. All I can say now is that the order in which you have your gambits set up is important.

Ok well unfortunately I'm in an area where there is a lot of talking and no fighting so I can't mess around with the gambits. All I can say is the way I have them set up is:

1. Foe: party leader's target------Attack
2. Foe: nearest visible------------Attack

and that is for everybody. Now for the healer people, I put something like:

Ally: HP<30%---------Curaga
and then the steps 1 and 2 from above follow this one.

This means that the healer's first command is to use curaga IF someone has their HP lower than 30%. So, if no one has HP lower than 30%, then it automatically goes to step 2, which in this case is Foe: party leader's target. Make sure for Penelo, for instance, you have the gambits set up like so:

1. Foe: HP = 100%----------------Steal
2. Foe: party leader's target-------Attack

That way, if the foe has HP equal to 100%, then Penelo should steal. But, if the foe has HP not equal to 100%, then Penelo should automatically skip step 1 and do step 2, which is attack in this case. I hope that makes sense and helps you out.

I found out the problem. If you are attacking a foe and more foes appear, your party member will go around trying to steal from them all and if I set everyone to attack who I am attacking, then they keep trying to steal off the others with 100% HP.

P.S. How much MP does your healer have and how much MP does Curaga use? I found out that Cura is 32 MP and that really pissed me off.

I have two healers, the one with the rabbit ears and the girl that used to be a princess, I can't remember names. Anyway, both have a little over 100. Curaga is a bit cheaper, somewhere around 24 or 28MP.

Oh and just as a tip, make sure to save money, because it is really scarce in this game.

Only just started the game. The introduction movie was lovely and so far it looks utterly beautiful.

Fran and Ashe. :)

I don't get how Cura costs more MP than Curaga? Doesn't make sense.
