Just played my first game of Pro Evo oline through my PS3.

When the game kicked off there was a bit of lag-like stuttering but that went and I won 3-0 - which was nice. The R1 buuton on my PS2 controller used to stick every now and again (mainly at the worst possible time) so this was better fro me that playing on the PS2.

I've not been able to get the option file onto it though so I'm going to get one of those adapters.

Does anyone know how to do it by saving an option file from here onto a memory stick???????

Can you play online?

Oh yes - there are moments in between screens where it goes blank for a few seconds but it's fine. I ran it in 60Hz too and it was fine the only glitch was the intro video slipped half way down the screen.

When I turned my PS3 on this morning it said that an update was available. So I downloaded it.

It took me less than 10 mins but I've got a 10Mb connection.

There's nothing on playstation.com about it so I don't know all the features included yet but apperently yoiu'll be able to install PSOne games onto the HDD. I don't remember the last time I wanted to play a PSOne game though....

It's probably too big a step down in graphics from PS3 for my eyes to take it.

If that's the case I'm angry :realmad:

Because I can't play online because of it, but I can't download the update till my internet gets reset.

Logging on to your net connected PlayStation 3 unit will most likely have notified you that your system requires an update. Well, that's true, because Sony has just released a new firmware version for your trusty CELL supercomputer and it's labelled as Firmware 1.70.

Now we've searched high and low for an official listing on the PlayStation Network online portal for the U.S., Japan, Europe and Australia, yet the list of the 1.70 update could not be found. But looking at the TV screen, the update is there, and it was screaming "Download me!"

So it's about high time to drop that 1.60 oldie and upgrade to the newer firmware, because newer is cooler. The new stuff that some users have reported to stem from the 1.70 update:

Enabled psONE downloaded games to play on the PS3
Enabled psONE game saves to be used on the PSP
Enabled rumble function on accessories for PS1 and PS2
Also there are some other PlayStation 3 user hopefuls that think the new features could provide a workaround for games that are multi disc for the PS1 and that do not let you save in-between. As our tipsters said, "just pop the save to your PS3 and play the game." There could be also a way to play POPS games in the PlayStation 3, but it hasn't been confirmed.

Thanks to Ludikhris & ecco legendz for the tips! We owe you guys...one. ...point seven?

Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition - works fine
Gradius V - works fine
Genji - works fine
Jak 3 non-GH ver - works fine
MGS2:Substance - works with issues (CGI intro)
Soul Calibur 3 - works with issues (40-45 fps with slowdown)
Gran Turismo 4 - works with issues (CGI movies)
Ratchet & Clank 1 works.
Ratchet & Clank 2 (GH version) works.
.hack Part 1, part 3 and part 4 work.

Translation from Dutch:
You should incite today you PS3, then the report gets you that you can download upgraden to firmware version 1.7th with these upgrade zul you PS1 games from P store and on your PS3 can play. there is no way to convert ps2 saves to ps3 without buying a mem card adapter.

but a few option files on here are in the right format(PSV) for ps3
