First time shot and header breakthrough (cracked it)

Ignore everything I said in this post before, I really 100% know the problem now... It's to do with the advanced shooting setting in your personal settings... Set to either basic or manual depending on what you had it on in pes 2013 and the shooting lag completely goes away... whoop whoop

p.s. Unlike on throughball, i do not notice any difference between advanced shoot and basic shoot, you can still do all the shot types, so i don't know whats going on there, happy gaming people.

For those of you who are having issues with first time shots and headers still, i have finally mastered it after 2 hours training. To perform a first time shot, header or volley etc... press the shoot bar to your preferred level of power then when you are about to make contact press shoot again much like you do with a knuckle shot, works every time... It isn't a lag issue like everyone has thought and complained about, I hope this helps everyone out a load I'm sooo happy, the only problem i had with the game, apart from keepers and i've cracked it.

EDIT: Ok so its a bit more complex, so here is basically what you have to do for different situations....

Throughball to shot: throughballs seem to have no issue as the player is running onto the ball in his stride so you can pretty much do whatever shot you want, so for some cut backs, try pressing throughball instead of pass.

Short pass along the ground to shot: Quickly double tap shoot after you have performed the pass.

Longer pass along the ground to shot: Like stated in post above, press once for power and then once just as you go to strike the ball like a knuckle shot.

Cross to Volley: press shoot once for power and then once again as the ball drops to you.

Cross to Header: This is again a quick double tap after you have crossed the ball, simply because you have to give the player the time to jump then head...

Hope this really helps you guys....

Oh and remember, if you want a cross to go on someones head, you have to full power it, otherwise it comes in too low and you will end up volleying it.

I also got the problem when my player is dribbling, I want them to shot immediately but they just keep dribbling like 3 meters forward. Can someone tell me how to immediately shoot when dribbling?

What platform are you guys playing on? I'm playing on PS3 and have the digital version and don't get this problem. If you are playing on a console and have the CD version, try installing the game directly onto your Hard drive as PES 2014 was originally designed for next gen consoles and your Hard drive will read the data alot quicker than the DVD player.

I think it's all to do with true ball tech mate, the ball doesn't come to you like it's attached to a piece of string no more, so unless your running onto a throughball, or chasing a throughball in your stride I'm guessing the second tap is to time your shot (remember throughballs back or fowards are played in front of the player, so players have that second or two to think about what they want to do)... that's what I'm leaning towards believing now anyway... once you get used to it, it becomes natural anyways and it will no longer feel like a chore. I don't even think about it now. But if you have the ball under control or are comming onto a throughball like I said, you can just press shoot like normal... Even in real life though, first time shots off of a normal pass are some of the hardest shots because you don't usually have time to look up properly, they are instinct shots and are more about the timing of your shots and connection rather than skill and half the time you are having to hit the ball from under your feet.

How much space is on your Hard drive, because I honestly don't have this problem mate... are you playing it online when this happens? Or does it happen in normal game modes aswell?

EDIT: LOOK AT TOP POST AGAIN FELLA, try what I have suggested, if this doesn't help then it's your ps3... I never had the dribble then shoot lag, but it stopped my pass then shoot delay over small distances, so maybe this will fix everything for you.

Why complicate the shooting system? switching players whilst defending is a disaster, I've lost count how many goals I've conceded because the response (or lack of) and just plainly the wrong defender is selected when I'm trying to close down.....I was playing PES 2013 last night, and in my humble opinion, It's so much better. It's not desperate enough for me to go out and get FIFA yet, but I may have to consider getting PES every 2 years now

Put shooting to basic or manual and it goes back to normal, only thing that has changed about shooting is they have added low shot, which is triangle after shot. As for cursor change, i do not have this problem, mine is set to semi-assisted and mine changes to the right defender fine, you can also press L1 down and use the right analog stick to manually choose a defender... so I don't get what the problem is?

I had the same trouble. Couldn't land a first-time shot to save my life. Missed a ton of sitters. Turned out the culprit was the new "advanced" shooting option. Every time I pressed "shoot" my dudes tried to aim or whatever. This is a silly feature, because when I get a half-second opening, I want a shot. The standard aiming system in PES has always been great - I push the stick down and my player shoots down - awesome - what more could I want? An aiming system with a target on goal can only work if the game slows down when the player presses the shot button.

In the end I just changed the shooting assistance to "standard" and now the game plays fine. I even scored a few headers - for the first time in ages, since in PES2013 it was practically impossible to do headers other than diving headers from two meters out.

The manual through pass is a bit better, it almost works, but I reverted that to standard as well. The problem is the same - when I have a half-second opening for a pass, I can't be bothered to aim a target.

Actually, that feature was present in PES 2013 too, Konami just didn't really bother to tell us :no: Same goes for headers (at least in PES 2013).

anyways - thanks for your tip regarding shooting and player switching (the 2 things that are driving me nuts with PES 2014), will try it now!
